Next year there will be two anniversaries: a 60th and a 40th.
Just saying.

Gave too many of those a pass as I was still hoping for that least some of those get a vinyl release*, but MR is a must. Still hoping for the vinyls, but I reckon that these’ll have to be 4 disc box sets which won’t sell for less than 120 bucks.
*spent too much money on special edition limited and what have you CDs (not only Bond), only to find out that most of them are worth a fiver only a few years later. Mind you, the most valuable (Bond) CD I have (according to Discogs) is the one I didn’t really want but still bought because I got it for cheap from a sales box. You’ve guessed it: NSNA…
And a 30th. Just saying.
I completely agree. I’m also hoping for a more film accurate Dr. No as well.
LLL has dabbled in vinyl, but as you say, the length of these scores will make that enterprise rather unprofitable. Also, EON would have to allow that, too.
But these new LLL expansions won’t get outdated because they really have every track available from original sources.
Unless we will all switch to in-brain-uploads this is the way to go with Bond scores.
TMWTGG, MR and OP were gaping holes in the Bond discography in terms of missing cues and it’s a relief to have them now filled. I’d like to see LTK get a big upgrade in the tracklisting next, and I hold out hope for GE’s 30th anniversary. With MR’s not so ‘lost tapes’ out in the open anything feels possible now.
I wrote about my experience with Moonraker, from seeing it for the first time to producing the new soundtrack reissue.
Neil
Absolutely magnificent, stellar work.
All of you can‘t be thanked enough.
Great story there. I think I do remember that Bondathon – impossible that it wasn’t discussed on CBn, especially as both John and Athena were on the CBn team back in the day. Oh, and there’s also Brad in that picture – say Hi from me to them
Never gave up hope that the complete MR soundtrack would someday be available. Back in the day when the first remasters came out, people complained that there were no new cues on the MR one and the explanation was that the tapes were lost. But a certain Hungarian gentleman (whose words I trust) told me that they aren’t lost, they just didn’t look in the right places.
Glad that he was right
Neil, thanks for this and all the great work you and the LLL team are doing.
It’s cool that the “Happy Anniversary 007” special cemented your love for Bond; I would have perceived it more as a “victory lap” for Roger’s tenure, so it’s always good to remember that every exposure is potentially some fan’s jumping on point. (I loved the gag where Roger pulls the trigger on the pistol only to have the clip drop out…partly because I’ve done the same thing!).
I find the older I get, the more excited I am about deep dives into the franchise’s storied past as opposed to new film entries, so for me this announcement has been much more exciting than news about Bond 26. It doesn’t get any bigger than MR for me, so you’ve basically made my Christmas.
Thank you very much, Neil, for making this release happen, also goes for TMWTGG, but Moonraker has always been my favorite Bond film and how disappointing it was to have listened to the original album for the first time (as an LP at the time) and to miss so much music from the film and after all these years almost gave up hope that an extended version of it would ever be released, because for a long time it seemed that no one who had the rights to it would care at all . Wow! Finally, finally the time has come! Thank you very much! And…um…on to The Spy Who Loved Me!
