New trailer for The King’s Man
Excellent!!! Hope theaters are open to support the September date.
It does look a bit like an action version of The Avengers on speed, no?
Knowing Matthew Vaughn…that was definitely intentional.
Well, he’s about my ‘generation’ so he likely grew up with Steed and Peel before beddybies and may feel they deserve at least a slight nod amid the effects-overkill.
And Ralph Fiennes was already Steed ofcourse.
Am I the only one who liked him and Uma in that movie (including Connery as the villain)?
I have only the haziest recollection of that film. I cannot even remember why I didn’t like it, such was my dislike.
Love it! I wonder whose playing the villain? Is it Matthew Goode or Aaron Taylor-Johnson?
The King’s Man has been pushed back to February 26th, 2021.
Bummer, but understandable.
Much as I like these films, this seems a bit much.
It all depends on where they take it. The tone of the prequel portends a more serious approach. Seven sequels set in the modern iteration might be pushing it though unless Vaughn has a fun curveball in the plan.
I wonder if in the world of streaming, seven sequels will soon look modest. Film franchises such as this may soon become the streaming equivalent of the Monogram, Republic, and Columbia B-movie serials.
Well its technically Disney, they’ll be trying to avoid being their own competitors as well as avoiding Bond and Mission Impossible. Can imagine Kingsman is going to be a nightmare to schedule in that regard as a comic book based Spy film - SOO much that is scheduled to be sharing your audience at the moment
Aaron Taylor-Johnson is credited as Lee Unwin…so it seems like he’s Eggsy’s ancestor.
Appropriate for the man who was Kick Ass.
Edited July 6th with new feature because I can’t add more than 3 in a row.
EDIT 2 BECAUSE THE ALGORITHM IS WEIRDLYJUDGY:
Thank you @Navy007Fan for making it a fresh post.
I swear, I’m going to spend most of this thread arguing with the algorithm, I’ve done it at least 3 times already
They seem to play up the connection to the earlier films quite a bit. The tone is similar, one big CGI action fest shifted back a century, double deckers and steel helmets, villains with funny accents and questionable dietary preferences, maybe a slice of Downey’s Holmes in the background, all very appealing to the fans. Should probably work.
Overly stylised period drama?
Yes, that’s Ritchie and Vaughn
