Im kind of hoping for a And Then there were none style for this one given how large the cast is.
I love that every installment really changes its style (in every department, right up to Blanc‘s hair).
Favourable reviews. I’ll be sure to check this out. Seeing the photos of Craig promoting the film is also a reminder of just how long it has been since he last played Bond.
Has Craig ever been more relaxed than on a Rain Johnson movie?
I feel that with time Craig realised the Bond role didn’t gave him the freedom to evolve as an actor.
Bond has those strict guidelines to go by (from wardrobe to pose, etc) and must not be changed.
And although we saw some deviations in his later Bond movies (with him also giving ideas and participate in the production) that had to take its toll.
Now he seems to be free and relaxed because he doesn’t feel the weight of a 60 year reputable franchise on his back.
I believe he’s grateful but I always felt that comment about slashing his wrists after SP wasn’t just circumstance and he only returned for NTTD to end it for once.
Apparently you can barely see it, but Jeremy Renner’s hot sauce returns. Also, following watching the interviews they did at TIFF, I’ve got a suspicion who the killer is but I won’t say in case I’m right.
Waiting in the cinema lobby to see the only cinema screening of Wake Up Dead Man. Really excited!!
WHAT???
Enjoy and tell us all about it (not all, no spoilers, please!)
It’s hard to describe without spoilers, and the screening opened with an intro by Rian Johnson where he asked people in attendance not to give spoilers, so I’ll just say I REALLY enjoyed it. Josh O’Connor keeps up the trend of the lead of the film not only holding their own but being the cast member you most want to see whilst surrounded by A listers and Craig at his best.
For those who don’t want anything, I’ll put my thoughts in a spoiler tag.
Summary
It’s a film I want to watch again as there are bits that play differently when you get later information that might change the film you’re watching. Whilst, yes, there are quite a few bits that got the audience laughing, it also goes harder on the hammer horror level of scare so those jokes hit harder a few times because of a sense of relief you get as that level of tension builds throughout. I had other thoughts after the film ends in regards to how things can be interpreted but I’ll wait until more people have had a chance to see it before I go anywhere near that.
Needless to say, I look forward to watching it again.
Small side note: Something that my partner and myself found funny was a connection with Poker Face that made us both think Johnson has a phobia…
Sounds fantastic! So looking forward to this film!
I will say there’s a cameo that this forum in particular will cheer.
I was right btw
The phobia?
I can’t say what it is without spoiling Wake Up Dead Man, but basically the same thing turns up in a season 2 episode of Poker Face.
Haven’t watched season two yet - should I wait until I have seen Wake up?
No, its just a fun coincidence. It doeant really effect the plot. Me telling you the coincidence would ruin Wake Up Dead Man, but i dont think it was intentionally done.
