Good to hear indeed.
Iâm really looking forward to the next film. Theyâve made such a massive turn around since the dark days of âEvil Jim Phelpsâ and John Woo.
Some more filming news. Looks like we can add Norway to the list of locales in this film.
They are really doing what Bond was doing: stunts for real in real exotic locations around the world.
Top this, BOND 25âŚ
One would hope. Thatâs an approach thatâs been missing in Bond. Cubby and Harry always liked a good gag/stunt/gimmick and when they came across one, theyâd make a note of it and then build a sequence around it either as an intro or climax. i.e. - the magazine ad showing a guy skiing of a cliff with a parachute.
MGW once said that they had a âdesk full of thingsâ that they had seen or read of or that people had come to them with. Maybe itâs time to clean out that desk.
I miss those days Bryce. The days of epic and memorable pre-titles sequences with innovative stunts combined with stylish soundtracks.
Letâs hope Craigâs last adventure will have some of that.
Indeed 76 along with the fact that pre-CGI, it was all being done for real and captured in the moment. I always point out that last glorious 22 second continuous single shot off the cliff in TSWLM to friends. Yeah, we need that again. The MI series clearly has been taking a page from old school 007 and doing it well. I was a bit envious of the PTS on MI-5 for bringing back that flavor with Cruise on the side of the plane.
Hereâs to the original bringing some of that back.
Looks like filming has completed in Norway. Also looks like Ethan Hunt will be doing some rock climbing again.
A big old school stunt is certainly needed for Bond. The last truly jaw dropping stunt was the bungee dam jump in GoldenEye. We need something like that again.
Iâd contend that the parkour in Casino Royale (particularly on the crane) should count for something. So should the train crash in Skyfall. As well as the helicopter doing loops in Spectre. I think the jump from the bell tower would count if you could tell they did it practically.
The trainstunt in SF lacked the style that a similar scene had in Die Hard 3 and always baffled me as why the baddie was able to exactly at the right moment be able to crash the train (the SF scene had something of an illogical feel to it).
Most of the recent amazing stunts in the 007 franchise had a pedestrian feel to them.
And indeed the Parkour scene in CR was the only time in the recent 007 movies that was really exciting. The PTS of SP felt somehow fake which was due to the colour they chose. I found out that the chopper did the real thing but the overal composition looked way to fake to really enjoy it.
For me the recent MI movies are filled with the glorious stunts I used to associate with the 007 franchise.
I thought Spectreâs pre-titles in Mexico City was pretty damn spectacular
I loved the PTS until the helicopter scene came. That one, despite the loopings, was a bit been there done that. But CraigBond walking nonchalantly on the edge of the building with the camera following him without any edits - that was fantastic.
Indeed it was. Also, after the explosion he falls onto a sofa, seated - i thought that was a nice, witty little moment to give us a beat before the action/tension ensued once again.
Craig does this very subtle âphysical comedyâ (if i might call it that) really well; doesnât over egg it.
http://wjla.com/news/entertainment/report-mission-impossible-6-production-delayed-again-by-tom-cruise-injury Production delayed AGAIN??
Oh jeez. I was surprised when I heard that Cruise was gonna start filming ahead of schedule, as surely heâd take the proper time to heal. I have faith in McQuarrie to make this film meet its deadline however. They moved Rogue Nation up by five months to avoid Bond and Star Wars in 2015, and turned out a fantastic film, which honestly I think might have affected Spectre, as the two films were very similar in plot (something I had predicted in the old forums before either had been released and was met with much skepticism). Hopefully we hear some good news about the production soon, rather than more delays.
Heâs a massive asset to MI.
For anyone who hasnât seen it i highly recommend his directorial debut The Way Of The Gun
Every time I see the Spectre PTS thatâs all I can think of is that he should have landed the helicopter back on the roof, climbed down through the window, and said to the girl âThat wasnât long, was it?â
Too bad. But it seems the moved up post production part will save the release date.
Looking forward to this film very much!
