Yes!
EON has to take a deep breath now…

EON has to take a deep breath now…
Holy crap!!!
Looks like there’s a car chase in Rome. With other cars and people on the streets. Completely unrealistic ![]()
Well…
HELL YES!
The character/plot arc that began with MI:5 has really gelled and the style is it’s own but certainly with nods to both the series and Bond.
Yeah, Eon should take notice.
Three views thus far and it’s something very impressive and if 8/Part Two follows through, we’re in for something VERY exciting.
I don’t think it’s possible for that to look any more outstanding than it does. Wow… Cruise and McQuarrie have really solidified their vision. Yes, EON really needs to be paying attention. This is a clear shot across their bow.
Cool
Still trying to wrap my head around the fact that when Tom Cruise filmed this he was more or less Roger Moore’s age when he filmed AVTAK. Rog probably needed a stunt double to get in the hot tub.
Scientology seemingly has something to it!
Yes, I know, it’s an often made joke
Not Scientology, a portrait in his attic. ![]()
Yes, but a man in his mid-fifties in 2021/22 is not what a man of that age was in 1980/81.
That’s the point I was trying to make ![]()

But frankly, when I look at those images in the trailer, I can’t help but thinking
Skyfall - Skyfall - Spectre - NTTD - Skyfall - Spectre - Skyfall - QoS - NTTD - Spectre - Skyfall - NTTD - TWINE - QoS - Skyfall - CR - Spectre - Skyfall - TND - NTTD - Skyfall - TND - … etc.
That car chase is SO FYEO
It‘s the next phase for M:I - being influenced by popular movies…
Question: Imagine they kill Ethan at the end of this… Wouldn’t it be nonsense if they brought the character back in the next movie like nothing happened? ![]()
Right…![]()
Unless, the Bond gang plans on doing a “Mission: Impossible Twist” and have us think the guy blown into pieces was actually someone else wearing a facial mask and Bond is actually still alive.
Yep…still not over it.
As for the teaser…better than the large majority of recent Bonds. And more action packed than most of the recent movies. Deserves some thought by EON.
Soooo many Bond references, as many have pointed out. The car from FYEO, TLD vibes when he’s dressed on the horse, Skyfall and OP (on top of train, Goldneye, Spectre…brilliant.
EON, I hope you’re watching; this is the gold standard.
That’s what we like to see! Incredible. TC and McQ showing everyone how it’s done. I can’t wait to see this in imax before Top Gun.
Casino Royale opened the door to more character driven stories for Bond which I think was a good thing. Craig’s Bond films still had action and some excellent set pieces but because the focus was more on character and story the set pieces are a bit scaled down. It’s been decades since we had Bond leading an army in a climatic battle despite several films where the opportunity did present itself. We really haven’t had an insane physical stunt since the crane jump in CR and even that isn’t quite in the same league as the dam bungee jump in GoldenEye or the ski jump from The Spy Who Loved Me.
With Bond being more arthouse this presented Tom Cruise and Chris McQuarrie and opportunity to really go for some old school Bond spectacle and do some stunts and action that EON wasn’t pursuing. A great example would be the Quantum of Solace sink hole parachute jump. EON (or was it Marc Forster or a rushed production?) chose to go with CGI and putting the actors on a green screen. McQ and Cruise would have done it for real. Cubby would have do it for real.
The way I see it is that the recent Bond films have been spy dramas with some action while the recent M:I movies have been action films with some spy drama. Depending on what you want from blockbuster entertainment your mileage my vary. Thankfully I have really enjoyed both.
Now that Craig is done with Bond I do think it’s time we go back to more action oriented Bond films. Give me a GoldenEye or a Tomorrow Never Dies that has a straight forward plot and lots of action and spectacle.
They’re not. M:I has been the gold standard for a while now and EON has continued on doing what they’ve been doing. It will almost certainly continue on this way.
