Looking back at the Scarlett Johansson conversation, after a second thought, I have to wonder: is she really overexposed at this point? I’m not sure that she is. She’s had the Marvel stuff, although that’s largely been in the rear view mirror for a few years at this point since 2021’s Black Widow. With that aside, she’s done voice work for the Sing movies, done a few smaller films like Asteroid City, My Mother’s Wedding and The Phoenician Scheme, among a few others. The only big thing that she’s had recently was Jurassic World: Rebirth.
Seems to me like she’d done a pretty decent job of mixing up her portfolio, doing the Marvel business while also balancing that with smaller films and just recently jumped back into the summer blockbuster mix after a few years away.
She is in demand and has a great agent…
She’s come a long way from Home Alone 3
I’m biased because I’m also a Batman fan, but The Batman Part II is one of my most anticipated movies without even knowing anything about it. I like the first movie and really enjoyed The Penguin. The time it’s taking to make each instalment has only made it more of an event. I’m predicting it will make more than its DCU counterparts.
As she should be. Very good actress who tends to perform well at the box office.
Not sure about this one. Really liked the first one, no so much the second one. And, now with Tommy Lee Jones pushing 80 and Rip Torn no longer with us, it very much raises the question as to what the point of this is.
Now, if they could get Tommy Lee Jones back, then I’m in. He was what made the original film work in the first place.
That’s also a thing we ought to remember before declaring ‘overexposure‘: most actors don’t get to be picky about parts and especially women struggle for fitting roles after a certain age. As long as they get cast and audiences want to see them I would never begrudge any actor their roles. For many of them that’s a brief period followed by a long stretch of little or nothing. Even Michael Caine couldn’t know he‘d make films into his old age.
Can you tell me what im not seeing?
The Batman was a film i wanted to like, and i did enjoy The Penguin, but i really feel like im mising something in that film as i just cant enjoy it.
I liked the movie for its atmosphere, could not get into the tv show, and now I think my favourite movie Batman is Burton‘s era again.
After that: the 60‘s tv show.
I am in a similiar boat as you. I thought I would like the Batman more than I did as I prefer the more serious, “realistic” take.
I really loved the Penguin and found that series to be incredibly compelling. It is among the best series I have watched in the last 5-10 years. I think the film lacked a few things: 1) I still have hard time remembering the story and what it was all about even though I have watched it 3 times. 2) I think it was also missing some of the coolness that the best Batman movies bring to the table.
In short, I thought the Penguin was amazing and the Batman was just ok. Hoping the second one is more in line with the Penguin series.
Because for the umpteenth time they were not able to get the Bruce Wayne/Batman mix right…in this one Bruce is a totally uncool older Howard Hughes mixed with Emo/Stalker-Batman. Maybe it´s a generation thing but for me it was a boring embodiment…I liked the atmosphere too, and that they at least tried to use his detective skills
Love it! That’s a poster!
Very interested. That’s how you promote a film when the magic feels like it’s gone. One film isn’t going to save cinema but I’m hoping Spielberg can once again show us the power of the experience.
This is a great trailer because it hints and doesn’t explain and, frankly, creeps me out, too.
Very excited for this one.
This might turn interesting…
