“How the Grinch Brought Back Christmas and Stole Easter Instead” ?
I’m a fan of the 2000 movie (the set design is very Burton) and have a special relationship with it. Mainly since it’s a weird little time capsule of my pre-high school life and before the world changed forever with 9/11. I have no doubt Carrey can step back into the role seamlessly but it’s not just the quality of the performance that matters with these things. It’s the story itself and the pacing of it. The sequel to the original book wasn’t warranted and it’s likely to be a similar outcome here.
I’m guessing most of the negotiations with Carey focused on the Grinch suit. It’s a famous story by this point, but the suit was so bad they had to bring in a guy who trains CIA agents to withstand torture to get Carrey through the shoot.
Have prosthetics advanced that much in the last 25 years, or can we expect a mo-cap Grinch this time around?

um….

why?
This is what has me hoping that maybe they have a good idea for the film that would make it worth Carrey’s time and effort to both go through that misery again as well as take on a leading role again after pretty much just working on the Sonic the Hedgehog movies during the past decade.

Amazon confirmed to me tonight that Artificial, its high-profile movie about Sam Altman and the brief period in 2023 when he was fired as C.E.O. of OpenAI, will not be released as planned later this year and instead is being shopped to other distributors. The decision was made by Mike Hopkins, head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, who informed filmmaker Luca Guadagnino and the rest of the producing team.
Tech billionaires looking out for each other?
I mean no disrespect to Dr Seuss or to the first film, but is there a Grinch story that would be worth enduring that make-up again?
That sounds rather interesting. Given that the people who grew up on those early days of video games are now the people that are making a lot of the movies that we watch today, I’m surprised that there haven’t been more films made about the actual making of the games themselves. Will definitely be looking out for more on this one.
The film has been shown in previews recently.
Apparently, it is not flattering. So…
Powerful AI billionaires apparently are weaklings with thin skin.
With the NYT writing things like ‘'Mrs. Sánchez Bezos seems to have influenced the uber-rich to stop apologizing, and start enjoying themselves’ and Amazon dropping a satire about another tech billionaire, I wonder what kind of villain we’ll get in Bond 26.
A scientist.
