News on NO TIME TO DIE (no spoilers)

Might be just a zero story - then again, it´s Baz. And it ties in with all the rumors about previous rewrites which turned out to be true.

One thing´s for sure: this is not a production one would love to work on.

Another thing that’s for sure: the finished film might turn out splendidly.

Ahhh so it’s QOS all over again. Daniel furiously adding to the script as they go along, whilst CJF looks on, baffled as to how they got themselves into this situation.

I jest, of course. I’m sure it’s all fine. We knew it was a troubled pre-production from the off, script troubles from day one, Fleabag to the rescue (to polish those lines which come out of Madeleine’s mouth).

I think CJF is going to deliver. I really think this is going to be a fantastic Bond film.

They have an outline of plot, but dialogue is all last-minute.

I don’t see any problem with that. As long as they have a plot and don’t mess around with it too much again.

A desperate inside source who wants to deliver a ‘story’ as he (like apparently everyone else) hasn’t seen a finished script and can’t give any other information, probably.

Good point , perhaps because of the nature of the troubled pre production only the very few are seeing the whole script

I agree. I think the set pictures look a bit special.

The MI6 forums have gone deranged - in the space of 10 minutes “Baz” went from trusted source to lying pariah with a twisted personal agenda. Truth hurts I guess.

I have no problem with Bond movies going troppo behind the scenes - given time, it’s all good for a laugh and adds to the series’ texture. What I resent is having to wait 5 years for a 2 week rush job.

If it is just dialogue, it is absolutely common for dorectors and actors to tweak it on set.

Perhaps we should also consider that, after the SPECTRE experience, Eon will be sure to keep most of the script under lock and key. So by default anything Bamigboye could reasonably expect to report from the BOND 25 set will be stories about rewriting and how that’s supposedly ‘not the way to shoot a film.’

I mean what sort of films have rewrites during filming? I mean, it’s not like two films that very publicly were being rewritten as they went along were highly acclaimed…

As, I believe, was The Big Sleep, that turned out OK too.

Indeed on all points. Also, as we now know from it’s documentary, FRWL was all but a disaster when lensing but rewrites and reshaping in post production flipped it around in the 11th hour.

All this speculation (mostly from fans and press) by the media and no one with any connection to the production is just that.

As the saying goes - “Sauce for the goose”.

Having rewrites during filming doesn’t bother me. It’s more or less natural during a production and even sometimes happens in post-production (Avengers: Endgame has rewrites that necessitated reshoots of all movies). QoS’s issue was the writer’s strike. There were no professional screen writers available to make those rewrites. Spectre’s issue was most likely Sam Mendes refusing to compromise on bad story beats. The last 2 MI films, the two highest acclaimed in the franchise, both started filming without completed scripts. I’m sure the script will be fine and I’m sure CJF wanted a little more control over the script that he took over at the 11 and a half hour.

Ain´t speculation fun… especially when one only has rumors to base one´s ideas on… :sunglasses:

I’ve missed it. It’s why I love these stories. It’s always a good time speculating on what these films will be. It’s why I continually debate with people over what will happen in GoT/ASOIAF and Star Wars and the MCU, etc.

From the Baz report… “I would imagine they’ll sort it out in the cutting room.”

As an editor I can tell you that’s no good thing.

Very quick. Plus, I agree, UK probably next.

They kept the Jamaica filming very under wraps. We hardly know anything.

Yeah, it doesn’t sound very promising at all.

I’ve been lectured countless times over the years that I dismiss Baz’s scoops at my own peril, so now when he paints the picture of BOND 25 as it currently stands, it’s not a pretty picture whatsoever. So what are we at now? Five credited writers plus Daniel Craig writing for the film? Craig working on it doesn’t bother me, as I thought he an Forster did a great job on QOS, but EON’ inability to get their house in order when it comes to making these films is getting a bit old at this point.

I expect I will still go and see it.

It seems that entropy almost always establishes itself, as chaos, indecision and bad luck get their claws into each bond’s run.

But then the only time the production seemed to get more efficient as they went on we got the factory assembled OC and AVTAK.

I prefer the chaos and mixed bags it produces to the factory assembled versions, but one does have to wonder at the ever returning pattern.
