News on NO TIME TO DIE (no spoilers)

Don’t worry I’m also a huge Roger Moore fan, he was and is my moviehero of all time!
Oh! And Moonraker is my favorite Bondmovie!

Everything is open for discussion, but not the rock albums. Got to love the classics, man…:metal::grin:

I’m a Moore fan. He was my first Bond with TSWLM. Connery was an acquired taste. Eventually, I learned to appreciate something unique each actor brought to the role. I do hope Bond 7 brings a lighter touch.

I do respect classic rock albums–Led Zeppelin IV, White Album, Sgt. Pepper, 2112, Dark Side and Animals, Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. But it took work to appreciate them. Ones that are my favorites are the ones released later–The Wall, Moving Pictures and Grace Under Pressure, Wind & Wuthering and Genesis, (yes, I prefer Collins to Gabriel), Hotel California, Marillion, etc. There was some good stuff in the 80s. But a boomer will tell you all musical culture stopped with Led Zepplin’s last album.

And bond had a really good run that decade with at least 4 solidly good movies out of 5. Sorry if I’m off on a rant … just having a trying week, boys.

“Music died with John Bonham” - a guy I went to uni with, who was otherwise the most chill, laid back scouser you’ll ever meet.

I personally wonder what strange dystopia they live in where all choices are absolute and you have to say something you “HATE!!!” to counter balance enjoyment.

With Bond, how many brilliant films would you end up discarding if you took the, weirdly still common, attitude that only Sean Connery was Bond?

Yeah…people are weird.

Exactly. Nostalgia does have a place, but it can be dangerous.

I think it’s very important to see Connery, or any Bond for that matter, as one part of the character’s history: not as the character completely. Saying “this is the only way” can cripple a franchise.

If you don’t push forward you stay in the past and become irrelevant.

It’s Daniel’s last film as James Bond, so I think what they can look forward to is a kind of summing up, I guess, of all of the previous Bond films that Daniel’s done. There are strands from all of the films in it, kind of reaching a conclusion.
What about working with Cary [Joji Fukunaga]?
It was great. And you know what was amazing is that he treated it, or was able to approach it, it felt to me almost as if it were an independent film. You know? And it was quite improvisational … we didn’t do many takes. It was very light. Sometimes quite chaotic, but I’m very excited to see how he’s constructed the final film.

His comments on CJF sound very promising.

I’m not reading too much into the ‘summing up’ stuff on DCs opus, since he may well mean it in the thematic sense, rather than the literal.

Yeah, I thought they already did that in Spectre. Unless the Rami Malek character utters the line “actually Mr Bond, I was the author of all your pain, not Blofeld!”

I’m definitely curious to see what the relationship between Safin and Blofeld will be…

We’re in the no spoiler section, so I have to be careful, but how would Safin’s character be any different than Dr. No, or Largo, or Rosa Klebb? All arms of SPECTRE, yet under the auspices of Blofeld?

I think it will be about where Bond ends up emotionally, and perhaps less about the connection he has with the villain.

Maybe Malek‘s Safin turns out to be Blofeld’s big mean brother.

Or Madeleine’s nasty brother

I think you can read between the lines of Fukunaga’s quotes in Empire etc (and a shortened version of the Dec trailer that’s playing in some cinemas!) what Safin’s connection to Spectre is…

Anyway -

Bad news for all of us hoping for something this Sunday:

The Hollywood Reporter’s article on which studios bought airtime makes no mention of MGM/UA, only that Disney, Universal and Paramount have bought air time this year. Guessing with nearly $6 million for 30 seconds, too expensive for them. Maybe if Universal had domestic, they’re going for damn Minions instead!

The money’s better spent on the movie itself (though most of its probably paid for Craig  )
