Dr No had the right idea way back in 1962:

“Forgive my not shaking hands, it becomes a bit awkward with these; a misfortune.”

I’ll say this… whether its comicsgaters or whatever the film/TV equivalent is - they will never struggle to spin anything into a problem being caused by “wokeness” or “SJWs” - the only thing delaying NTTD is the fact that the global box office is basically at the point of a massive recession, completely shut down in China and following suit quickly elsewhere - for a franchise that makes most of its money outside the US - that means the film gets delayed.

As a wise man once said…

This. No one, including the producers, CJF, DC, and the entire cast is happy with the delay. The movie is finished. Everyone involved worked incredibly hard to produce this movie and to meet the April deadline. Everyone seems very proud of this film and wanted to see it released. Delaying it was a difficult decision made in the public’s mind for both box office reasons and general public safety. Universal and MGM want to maximize box office returns and with China effectively shut down, as well as South Korea, Japan, and Italy (you know, where a large chunk of the film is set) that was not going to happen. Additionally, no one wants to go to the theater with a bunch of potentially infected people and increase the outbreak. I certainly don’t like it, but delaying No Time To Die was likely a good move both publically and financially. It had nothing to do with “SJWs and wokeness.”

You might have successfully self-isolated in expressing that view.

Absolutely. All of Italy is going into lockdown, meaning cinemas are closed. That’s all that needs to be said. Fanciful theories of ‘reshoots due to wokeness’ are an insult to everyone’s intelligence.

The woke angle was a bad call, but let’s face it, we all make bad calls sometimes - god knows I have.

As someone currently in Italy for work, I can confirm this is doubly disappointing!

(But also incredibly serious, and impressive that a country is taking such strong action.)

Stay safe over there, and that goes to everybody everywhere. Australia is coming into the winter, whereas the US and Europe are coming out of it. Not looking forward to it, I can tell you.

I think I’ll be working from home in the not too distant future. It also seems inevitable schools will be closed, and sporting events will occur in empty stadiums. If we all adapt and persevere, we will get through this. We don’t have a choice.

Sony is to delay the release of Peter Rabbit 2 until August amid coronavirus disruption, Variety reports

(But we all know why they’re really delaying it. :smirk:)

I saw that about Peter Rabbit.

I’m gutted.

My anonymous sources report Peter Rabbit 2 was really delayed because of HORRIBLE screen test responses to what today’s youths refer to as “wokeness.” Sony is working round the clock to remove the offending elements.

I heard they were bringing Phoebe Waller Bridge on to add more “wokeness”.

I heard they were cutting down the women. It was decided that more than 2 is “too woke” so the removing all but two and cutting down their lines
