That makes sense.
That GQ series on Youtube is great. Itās well worth a dive just to listen to so many talk about their craft.
US release officially brought forward to November 20
Figures, the US is practically done with Covid-19.

By then it could be the other way around.
Covid coming back and raising all its victims again?
Not sure about that.
[wishful thinking off]
Fixed that for you.
If I mention social distancing in public, even though Iām 31, I almost expect someone to say, āSocial distancing, grandad? That was so six weeks ago!ā
I expect to be laughed out of every place I go into for wearing a mask.
Iām in southeastern Pennsylvania; masks are still mandatory in commercial establishments. So mockery isnāt an issue yet. Except, you know, the kind Iām used to.
My experience has been that, while masks have been mandatory in my area, very few are actually complying with it. Granted, thereās been more than I would have thought given the political leaning of the area, but itās still appalling how little common sense there is out there.
Everyone where I am is still doing well when it comes to wearing masks and keeping apart. There is some fatigue, of course. At work Iāve noticed folks lower their masks when talking which annoys me to no end but thatās on them. Weāll see where weāre at by November. Barring a miracle I canāt imagine weāll be terribly far removed from where we are right now. As always, stay safe, folks! Lots of idiots running around out there who think the whole thing is overblown.
I wonder if all these protestors and rioters currently congregating in large numbers will feel safe entering a cinema come November?
Who will actually feel safe in a cinema in November?
This thing is popping up again and again whenever restrictions are loosened. We knew that cases would go up then, simply by the maths of it; the question is always how much. We see it happening even in China and, whatever else one can say about China, they at least managed to get Wuhan under control. If NZ isnāt careful now weāll see it return there too.
There is that understandable wish of people to get back to normal, you hear it all across society from manufacturers to hospitality and entertainment and of course politics. But the more - and the faster - we want this the longer it will take.
Weāre not in for normal; weāre in for a succession of on/off local and/or regional lockdowns. Since neither herd immunity nor treatment/vaccine will change this significantly - even if a vaccine was patented today you wonāt see it distributed and used in large enough quantities for some time - this state of affairs will likely last for another year or two.
Iām not concerned about cinemas in November. If thereās anything to see there whoever wants to chance it is welcome to do so as far as I am concerned. Much more important in my view is that people are allowed to vote in a secure environment and elections will hopefully be safe. That should be the real concern.
In a way, I donāt want to return to normal.
To be clear I donāt want this quarantine to continue, even though personally, I donāt mind it. Iām cooking more, which is probably healthier (though not necessarily.) French fry intake has gone down, but I still donāt eat enough fruits and vegetables. But back to my point.
There is less pollution. Animals are coming outācoyotes on the beach, seals on marina walkways, jellyfish in Venice canals. I donāt miss sports that much, though I have enjoyed Bundesligaās return and am eagerly anticipating Premiere League (and soccer isnāt my favorite sport.) I am fortunate to be able to work from home, and hope it would continue in some fashion after this, as I donāt see the need to commute to an office to get done what can largely be done at home. I have more time for music and virtual socializing (Zoom, etc.)
Also, strangely my friendships have changed somewhat. People I thought I liked have turned out to be jerks, and some acquaintances I know have been really kind and generous. It turns out some relationships were based on convenience rather than friendship.
And all the protests, now that the looting has dissipated, have given me hope. I just pray that they keep up this enthusiasm come election season. The seeds of Americaās political dysfunction were sewn in the apathy of the 2010 interim election where Obamaās supporters stayed home and that gave rise to the Tea Party and a neo-neocon movement that helped bring us to where we are today.
Peaceful protests shine a light, and are good. But voting is even more effective.
I have the NTTD logo as my iPhone wallpaper again - Iām daring to dream the release date can happen!
