Sting wears on me.
If the song rumors are true it wouldnāt surprise me to find out Jack Savoretti is singing and Sting is only co-writing, much like Tina Turner and Bono on Goldeneyeā¦
I donāt claim to be up on the current pop music scene. Is Jack Savoretti a known entity at all? I find this bizarre as I have never seen anyone bandied with any legitimacy that I have never head of at all.
This is the page we want to be keeping an eye on: https://bbfc.co.uk/releases/latest-decisions?field_type_of_media_tid=459
Once itās been rated we know itās inbound. Theyāll probably drop the poster a day beforehand. Again, just an agonizing wait.
Sting always delivers great movie songs, and even f he just sings, it will have that kind of melancholy I enjoy and consider right for Bond. The other guy - since Iām 50 - I donāt know. But he seems to have a good voice. Two men singing a duet - surprising choice! But I love that they donāt go for the obvious.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let me rephrase that: if he does not write or sing for movie trash like that āMusketeerā-film he always delivers great songs.
(quickly searching all the Sting movie songsā¦)
I do tease. The film, and the theme, was an exercise in early 90ās blockbuster box ticking.
Iād rather see it sooner but October 5 is James Bond Day. Seems like an appropriate time to drop a trailer and poster. And Iām fine with the Sting idea.
Somewhere upstream I already said it, Sting would be a surprising choice since heās largely a hero of middle agers. Then again, paired with this other guy - whose existence hasnāt come to my attention before and therefore is probably just the rave with this morningās YouTube timeline - that could work quite well. Iām not sure how much of this is legit but it would at least seem to be an improvement over that last one that was basically written during a coffee breakā¦
Bond embracing the old and the new - seems like the way to go in order to placate the whole mass audience.
Gosh I hope thatās not true. Please pick someone exciting and actually cool for the song, Eon.
Sting is at least a name from Rock & Rollās Hall of Fame - and who knows whatās in store for that other guyā¦
Exciting and cool, thatās harder than ever these days. Any decision will be controversial there.
And the other site will be this one.

Yup, theyāre back. After the well-worn design standards and glass ceilings were all crashed through with their ground breaking work for Skyfall and SPECTRE, theyāre on board for NTTD.
So, expect design-free āMan-in-middle-of-poster-doing-nothingā. In 1 Sheet and Quad formatsā¦
I think heās a safe choice, and much more preferable to some other potentials.
CR and even Quantum had decent posters. Agree about the last two films. Very generic and unworthy of the franchise. I like Craig as Bond but those posters donāt capture the vibe of the films at all.
Well, I think their ideas for āHigh Riseā werenāt uninteresting. And unfortunately the āfashionā has changed, and it all depends on plugging the obvious in the most obvious way.
So, who can they sell āNo time to dieā with? Exactly.
But hey, maybe they will go for something very surprising and fantastic.
I donāt think heās terribly safe as he hasnāt had a hit in years. And that there are other people worse (Joe Dolce, Susan Boyle, Mr Blobby etc.) doesnāt make him a good choice.
That does suggest they came up with the typography for NTTD, though. Which is ace.
Like who? If youāre a man in your mid 50ās, Sting is cool, the same way Sam Smith was if youāre a teenage girl in 2015.
I can say this purely because my favourite musician did one alreadyā¦
C“mon - Sting is a great writer and singer. He has earned legendary status, and most pop/rock artists his age just do not have any world wide hits anymore since the industry has changed.
One may not like Sting just like one may not like any other artist. But to deny that he has the chops is just plain wrong.
