NO TIME TO DIE Spoilers (production pictures & videos)

Cool men in their 50s know Sting isn’t cool. Do you think Daniel Craig thinks Sting is cool?

There are cool artists in their 50s. Hell, someone like Iggy Pop is in his 70s and he’s way cooler than Sting could ever hope to be.
The Police were a good band, not to my taste but they were at least vaguely cutting edge. But years of middle of the road pap does not a cool artist make.

He’s been touring with Shaggy.

I suspect the hit qualities may be what Savoretti would be responsible for. Always provided there is any substance to this. Or it even plays out in the fashion we think, which experience teaches, sadly, may not…

Fingers crossed!

Why should I care about “being cool”? What an arbitrary label that will change with any fashion. I only care about whether I like something or not. And I do believe Craig would like Sting, too, since he knows what Sting has accomplished and that he is a gifted musician with a career that already has endured longer than many “cool” artists will ever be able to craft.

Yes. Because he has collaborated with him on a whole album. So? I don’t like that album so much, and I see it as one part catering to another market but also one part trying out another music genre.

Shaggy. He of the novelty record.

That’s what the question was; ask Orion.

C´mon. You and me might not like Shaggy. Others do. I don’t think that it would make you or me more cool to make fun of him.

Wo, don’t blame me for that word, you brought it in.

True enough; I hate the quote system on here- it’s hard to keep up with your own posts! I stand by it though; I like music to be cool and actually good. Do people not like James Bond being cool? Isn’t that the point?
Your chap Cornell at least stuck to his musical beliefs: he didn’t jump on bandwagons and make bland, soulless pap. That is how you keep your cool.

Why would Bond become cool if the title song was sung by someone considered cool at that particular moment in time?

Hey, Bond is a character that has not been cool since the early 60´s.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but hasn’t the process been that EON has solicited songs from multiple artists at a time and then chooses the one that best fits? If that is the case, wouldn’t we assume the song and artist they chose this time does in fact, fit? Otherwise they would not be in the final talks process as Marketto pointed out?

Therein lies the rub: we’re talking about an entirely subjective quality (cool) that’s also now increasingly dependent on day-of-week and time-of-day. What’s considered “cool” by any measure now can - and probably will - be old hat as the next shitstorm or the ‘Next Big Thing’ approaches.

Some people like crap, yes. I don’t; I’m not sure what the issue with that is.

Is n’t the answer to that self-evident? You don’t know how brand association works…?
Have you noticed how Aston Martin is always voted top of the ‘cool brands’ list? What do you think might have helped with that…?

I don’t see your point…? It’s coming out in 2020, not 1980. Why do you think Roger’s Bond wore flares: because they’d be fashionable in 2019? Nope.

Exactly. I am not expecting anything amazing from Empire for the poster. Just Craig in the middle, likely in monochrome, with the title either behind him or superimposed over him. Craig will likely be holding a PPK too.

This is true. Cornell did, but, alas, You Know My Name was far and away his most successful song, and it didn’t do half as well as it’s immediate predecessor or its 3 successors. There’s no accounting for the tastes of a wider audience apparently, and given Eon are using the song basically as an advert, one heard by more people is going to win out over (yes, I know, subjective) good taste.

The point is evidently that this is an entirely subjective discussion - clue ‘crap’ - and therefore not likely to lead to a conclusion since it’s unlikely one can, in matters of taste, be actually ‘convinced’. Much less so when it’s even a very hazy and nebulous concept that defies proper definition, this ‘exciting and cool’ you brought to the table.
