Er, are McCartney and Wings a duet? They’d been a band for a couple of years before doing LALD.
As for White, my guess is that they didn’t want two solo rockers in a row and thought the duet would be the best of both worlds. I quite like AWTD but I’m in the minority.
Was more a snide remark regarding the general quality of Paul McCartney and The Wings. Live and Let Die is a great song, but very much the exception rather than the rule…
As for Alicia Keyes, I seem to recall reading that it was Jack White who brought her on, but I can’t remember where I read that.
Why would we think she is distressed though? All she’s doing is putting her hands to her head (as you may do when you push your hair back) and looking to one side in the other. And yeah, in the other case they could well be running through a performance: he is the director after all.
The papers will take a photo of you when you’re mid way through a blink and claim you were drunk out of your mind: I wouldn’t believe anything they’re saying.
That rings a bell; I think it was his idea as well. She’s certainly got some lungs on her so not a bad choice. I think he had pretty much full control on that song; I’m sure I heard he wanted the mariachi trumpets on it too.
I think it’s a pretty great rock Bond song: the closest we’ve had to rock so far. It’s not perfect: I’d agree the vocal gets a bit screechy, but I think the driving trumpet line through the chorus is really powerful and the bass is great. Fantastic drumming too.
Don’t get me wrong I love sting, I just checked the top played tunes on my phone and two of his are right up there. I’m just surprised to hear them going with Sting rather than some Flavour of the times like Ed Sheeran.
