NO TIME TO DIE Spoilers (production pictures & videos)

Is anyone wondering about the scene in the Billie Eilish video where Bond is at what people seem to be assuming to be Vesper’s grave holding a burning note saying “forgive me”

There was a suggestion in one of the interviews that this is Bond going to Vesper’s grave to make peace with his past demons. He writes the note, and burns it as per southern Italian tradition, and drops it at her grave.

We also see Madeleine burning a note in one of the teasers. I’m wondering what hers is about.

I’m assuming it’s also about letting go of the past. Perhaps it’s Mr White related, forgiving her father and perhaps her decision to distance herself from him.

NTTD is featured in the latest issue of American Cinematographer:

Some big key points from the jam packed feature, which also has interviews with a whole host of Bond DoPs past and present:

  • Cary hired Linus off the back of First Man
  • BB and MGW shoot down spinoff ideas with the interview directly suggesting Nomi…again. ‘our focus has been on making one Bond film and we have not planned…’
  • Both Cary and Linus were adamant to shoot it on film, digital ‘wasn’t an option’
  • Don’t expect irritating aspect ratio changes as they wanted to avoid that by having entire sequences in IMAX. eg, the entire pre titles will be in 1.43:1, then going into 2.40 after the opening credits
  • 5-perf 65mm was also used for the dialogue scenes within the IMAX sequences (basically like Nolan does it)
  • Linus was directly inspired by Spielberg’s ET in choices of lenses to achieve particular effects such as flares
  • some gorgeous new BTS images throughout

November may be a pipe dream.

It is a provisional date that we all hope for - but the magnitude of the crisis is surely unprecedented and there is currently no saying what actually is a reasonable and realistic date.

We’ll have to hope for the best, follow the guidelines of authorities, hopefully stay healthy - and then we’ll see.

Pushing it back 7 months instead of 2-3 months looked like overreacting at first but it doesn’t now.

I wonder if Eon were nervous about an April release anyway, before the virus, and are more comfortable with the familiar November launch, and that’s why they chose that month in particular.

I don’t really think so - without being able to support this by anything other than the general vibes that were coming off NO TIME TO DIE. This was set to be the major release of the year, kicking off at a very promising time. From all we could see so far it showed every indication of having the potential to meet the high expectations set on it.

Other films have already shown that you can break records in the spring; it just depends which films you let open the season. And a Bond film, eagerly awaited for years and the last one of a very popular Bond, certainly should have been able to punch in that class.

Meanwhile, November was simply the first reasonable date when one could hope the situation and the market would hopefully be back to normal. We are all keeping our fingers crossed for this. But as a film trying to break into the billion dollar box office club I think NO TIME TO DIE could have done it just as well in April.

A very minor piece of news, but right now we’ll take anything, right?

Fabulous! Thanks for sharing, @antovolk.

No re-shoots, according to Baz

People who live in the US and UK arn’t leaving the house during a lockdown…scraping the barrel a wee bit there Baz…

Also, Cary himself confirmed weeks ago the film is done and yet more people than I would have thought have jumped onto that YouTube rumour

It’s Socrates argument against democracy; it quickly becomes my ignorance is equal to your knowledge.
