No Time to Die theme song

Don’t know enough about Sheeran. But I saw him in Boyle´s “Yesterday” and was surprised how self-deprecating he can be.

If he indeed ends up doing the BOND 25 song I will wait before I judge that quality, and even if I don’t like the song I will happily watch the film on the big screen. Anything else seems weirdly childish.

Oh God please no: anything but Sheeran. He’s the personification of bland. I would rather chew my own face off than endure his bilge over a Bond title sequence.

Really? Strange priority, Mr.Hinx.

I really don’t like Sheeran.

Having just read The Sunday Mirror article, I’m calling bull. It’s based on an answer Sheernan gave to a question 2 years ago, with “source” being thrown in for good measure.

To quote the American general near the end of YOLT, “All we can do now gentlemen is hope and pray.”

I wonder whether people would have welcomed any of performer of a Bond film song, maybe except Paul McCartney. But every other one will have had his/her detractors.

I’m honestly not familiar with Sheeran’s music, so I’m open minded.

Anyone else and I’d agree - childish indeed. But Sheeran!

Honestly don’t think I could stomach it and would still be eager to see the movie, but in a format in which his banal pop hasn’t put a shadow across the proceedings.

So, not childish, I promise, just pragmatic.

This! He’s just so calculatingly vanilla, with every forgettable note plotted out to maximise his demographic appeal. Yes, the best Bond themes have been produced by pop colossi, but generally, they have been those that also had an edge or a knack for taking pop to an interesting place: Sinatra, McCartney, Duran Duran, Turner, Garbage, even Adele (though not generally my taste, has shown some ability to do the unexpected). Sheeran just takes pop to the morgue.

Brilliant! If zombies wore earphones Sheeran would be playing on loop.

Well you could always go for, er, Iggy Pop…

Love that tune (Iggy’s always pretty great).

High speculation here… With Iggy being so synonymous with Boyle’s Trainspotting I wonder Boyle asked Iggy to come up with something when he was set to direct 25. Highly coincidental that Iggy’s singing about a female Bond!

You could imagine it being true! I wouldn’t mind him actually doing one: he’s so eclectic I have no idea what it would be like but his voice drawling over the titles would create a great mood!

He couldn’t pick a better time to sing a song about ‘she’s like James Bond’ though, could he?

Indeed not! He must’ve been a little gutted when Boyle quit Bond. Solicited or not, Iggy’s new tune could well have made its way into the movie.

After all, he did a great version of All The Time In The World for Arnold’s Shaken and Stirred album.

I’m afraid Sheeran is a strong possibility since he’s pop/commercial, as a very big momentum and EON will probably want to capitalize on that to go for the 3rd Oscar winning song in a row. For that… he may be the obvious choice.
Myself, I believe Muse would do a wonderful job but I’m fairly open to other odd picks they may come up with.

Me too! Their track Supremacy (a possible audition track for QoS) would’ve made a great title song.

Whether Muse, or not, fingers crossed they opt for quality over popularism.

Yes indeed; I guess most artists on that album have sort of been lost to the 90s but Iggy is one who could actually still be a candidate. I guess Jarvis could at a push, but he’s maybe a little too knowing; I could imagine Björk doing a proper Bond song nowadays though.

I am not familiar with Sheeran‘s music - but is he the artist EON would want to align with? He is mostly a love songs for female teenagers-guy, right?
