No Time to Die theme song

You Know My Name, Skyfall and No Time To Die are the best Craig era songs, in my opinion, and are good Bond songs in general. Hopefully that translates to NTTD as a film, because I also view CR and SF in the same terms - being the best of the Craig era.

I agree with him that this is a good song - but the author´s need to put down Cornell´s magnificent YKMN and then even Adele´s SKYFALL… that’s just bad writing by this journalism.

I’m not sure if “love” is a good word, but no, you’re not alone :slightly_smiling_face:.

Having ‘Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga’ appear with that final statement of the Bond Theme playing is going to be fantastic.

It’s an oddly common feature in modern journalism, you can only praise something by hating something else.
It’s like a memo went round to write everything with this in mind;

Indeed. If we always trash the past to justify something new, in effect, we end up liking nothing.

I am getting way too much enjoyment out of watching Billie’s fans “react” to the song.

Bonus points for wearing the rug I have in my bathroom…

Fired up Apple Music this morning to see a James Bond Theme playlist right at the top that includes NTTD (but missing LTK). Good job, Eon.

Also a good review of it (from a pretty wide listening/fairly serious music reviewer) - the face he’s making in the thumbnail is not representative of his reaction/thoughts

Well played, EON.

It will be interesting to hear the version that plays over the credits. Sometimes the shorter versions are “punchier”

Talking of Smith…their reaction to the song

My wife and I liked it, too.

NTTD turned out about as Bondian as I could’ve hoped from Eilish, so I’m pleased with it overall. Listened to it several times – this morning, I queued up SF and TWOTW ahead of it to listen to them all together – and while I like it OK, I would likely stop short of buying the single. Between the whispering and mumbling, I actually can’t understand what she’s saying half the time. Granted, I could make a similar complaint about my favorite singer-songwriter, Elton John, but I prefer his voice and also, even when I miss a lyric, I never miss the tone. Once or twice, Eilish’s whispers reach such a point that I actually can’t distinguish the notes and lose the melody, and for a musician with perfect pitch, that bothers me. I’m glad that it picks up as it goes along. I get that it’s a slow burn with more of a jazz delivery and that was the approach, and I respect that; it’s just not really my thing.

I actually prefer TWOTW for some of the reasons aforementioned – stronger musical hook, greater sense of build and musical tension and release throughout – though Sam Smith’s falsetto in the context of a Bond theme was something I had to get used to (likewise backup singers in Adele’s Bond theme).

Absolutely and there’s a strong argument that’s all a movie theme needs to do.

But there’s a unique place for classic bond themes in that they have a life of their own long after the movie’s release.

Perhaps for some it’s those themes themselves that keeps the franchise looming large above all others.

So, while this will make for a perfect muse to NTTDs story, I don’t hear that special quality many others have. I’m not saying it’s a bad NTTD theme, just not a great bond theme.

Amazing!
I couldn’t find that on my Apple Music. Can you put the link up here ?

I like it. Liked the lyrics. Melody got stuck in my head after two listens. The only thing missing is Daniel Kleinman’s title sequence, which should make it great.

Speaking of Apple, it seems Apple also gave No Time To Die’s lyrics the ‘dare the paradise’ line. Probably some intern had to write up the lyrics part and misheard.

I like how someone on the Twitter replies responded “Now they’re just stringing us along.”
