It was on the actual 10 o’clock BBC news last night. I enjoyed it because they played the Bond theme under the newsreader reading it out.
I’m not entirely sold on the font choice at the moment, but at the same time I appreciate the attempt at individuality.
I actually love the “old fashioned” approach to the font. Maybe that explains a lot about me.
I would suggest it had sailed by the time Goldfinger was remade as DAF.
Ian Fleming’s James Bond is not original?!?!
Who’d have thought the adaptation of a book series wouldn’t be original…what are the odds…
Ha, indeed. We’ve been calling it Bond 25 for so long it’s as if Bond 25 was the title. I do like No Time To Die, and I hope the font treatment remains. I can see clocks and hourglasses possibly featuring in the title sequence as well.
Spotted by some on social media, and also over at the other place, but the initial press release sent out yesterday referred to the title as A DAY TO DIE at one point. An earlier version of the title, or a typo? Not clear.
But if A REASON TO DIE was also considered, they were certainly working around a determination to have “die” in there somewhere.
I like the title it’s pretty good, it has a sense of urgency to it.
For the younger CBners…
Come to think of it, was the title perhaps meant to be No Time TODAY?
Question - is Thunderball original poster in the same font? Also the A - Team ?
No to both.
No, they’re both “Stencil” (the style is stencil for Futura Black, too, but the A-Team / TB font also has the name Stencil).
Thanks , Mash looks similar to me also but probably a no too.
I like the font a lot , it has a sense of history and humor to it.
They are all using stencil-style fonts like the military would utilize to spray paint an identification onto crates, etc.
The font for Bond is a very retro 60s font that shares some similarities but is uniquely designed with a bit of a 30s art deco vibe. Yeah, I’m a graphic designer by trade, so I follow this minutiae…
Reminds me a lot of (and follows hot on the heels of) “Too Old To Die Young”
Excellent explaination thanks, I think it has a bit of power to it. The Deco part makes sense to me as I am quite naturally attracted to art deco.
I love when a font comes together
Which was post-Twin Peaks The Return amazing, but bloody hard going, even for Refn. With its vigilante theme I imagine it was a reworking of what he’d intended for his Equalizer movie. Been cancelled by amazon and although it was artistically sublime, I think I’m a little relieved.
