Allow me to be a wisecrack…
It’s not a 60s font but a 20s font (1929, to be precise), hence the art deco influence. But style-wise, this is Bauhaus.

Yes. You took it deeper than I did. However, it was used heavily in 60s advertising as the art deco influence became chic again (everything old is new again!).

24 hours later and the title still doesn’t thrill me but I can see a few potential nods that make it better:

The throwback to a pre Dr No Broccoli, Young et al film is a very nice wink and nod.

The on-going Dr No references and Easter Eggs (still stand by my theory that this film will somehow tuck into Dr No and wrap up the Craig prequel era) make “No” another nice inclusion.

And Craig has been on record stating that “Live and Let Die” is his favorite / first Bond, some acknowledgement to that film.

And Im sure the story will make more sense of it.

And I see that Bryce 003 picked the correct option so a measure of kudos to him too. :+1:

I can definitely see that happening. I wonder if we’ll get some Salvador Dali-style influences as well.

The title has grown on me a little in the last 24 hours. I still see it as rather vanilla, but I’m just happy to have a title. One thing I do hope changes though, and it relates to the throwbacks that you mentioned, I don’t want more of the Craig is the old school and the old ways are best mantra. The Bond series has adapted throughout the years and the idea in CR and QoS was the opposite, M represented the old and CraigBond the young and new. It’s why I’d rather see a more modern M office than the old naval one with the red door. Let’s keep moving forward, not back.

Given CJF and PWB (Who is adamant it’s a CJF film above all else) are the last two who have worked on the script, I don’t see it being “old is better than new”

Both in their writing and their lives they push for the idea that you can only go forward, not back.

That’s what makes me excited for this film.

How do you know so much about fonts ?

Typography is a hobby of mine, and part of my job.

Well I am sure they read this website, and so I am pretty sure they stole my idea.

I want my money now, and a mention in the credits please…ooh, and a cameo…

Well I hear they’re looking for someone for Bond 26 and you’ll only have to change your Christian name

That’s interesting I deal with typography too but I’m sure not as in-depth as you , I work as a web designer and I experiment with different fonts that work well with different themes but I’ve know idea about the history that comes with them

I know it’s a joke, but that article is somewhat irritating.

They lost me with their first line:

“25. “Quantum of Solace” (2008) Not only is this the stupidest title of a Bond movie, it also might be the stupidest title of any movie ever — and that list includes “The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain” and “Santa With Muscles.” It’s worst than “Phffft.” This is just a mismatch of lofty-sounding, utterly forgettable terms pretending to convey something important.”

Funny how native speakers cannot decipher words in their own language.

Agreed. And they ranked Octopussy at 4. I love OP and I even admit its a terrible title. It sounds more like a low-budget porno than an action movie.

To be fair theSpectre, a palace full of female gymnasts is a low-budget porno plot…
