My…

I loved COAL MINER’S DAUGHTER - though I haven’t watched it in decades. Have to see if I can dig that one up one of these days.

Damn, more sad news. 2021 feeling an awful lot like 2020 right now. RIP

Sad. I started watching the Up Series with 28 Up at the New York Film Festival. He was always there, and sometimes accompanied by participants.

And already 2021 is rockin’ and rolling.
RIP.

On balance, the world has been blessed by the longevity of the Bond film artists’ lives. But my, there is some reality ahead.

Rest In Peace, Michael.

I distinctly remember following the production of The World Is Not Enough as a youngster, and later soaking up everything to do with the film, including the special features of the video release - Michael introduced the deleted scenes. Thanks for playing your part.

Sad to hear about Tanya Roberts–the one and only Charlie’s Angel AND Bond girl.

She wasn’t my favorite Bond girl, but listening to the behind the scenes stuff of A View To A Kill with John Glen and others saying how brave, professional, and game she was in doing the city hall fire stuff made me like and appreciate her more than I did previously.

Late into 2019 and there had been NO main Bond girl deaths. Now, a mere 13 1/2 months later and we have FOUR–Claudine Auger, Honor Blackman, Diana Rigg, and Tanya Roberts.

R.I.P. Tanya.

Sad news about Michael Apted. I think TWINE is a very underrated Bond film.

It’s my least favourite featuring Brosnan but I don’t dislike any Bond film. TWINE proved to be influential with Skyfall. I also enjoy the Q Boat, the song, Valentin’s return, the pipeline sequence, Elektra’s death, the submarine finale and the N64 game.

Tanya Roberts – one of my boyhood crushes. She caught my eye in Beastmaster. I was so excited to hear she was cast in A View to a Kill. She definitely had the looks. Wish they kept her a redhead in AVTAK. Saw Sheena Queen of the Jungle and then some of her direct to cable work. She also had an incredibly sexy voice–a little husky but still girlish. Never saw her on That 70s Show, but nice to know she had a viable career into the 2000s.

Michael Apted – and the hits of 2020-21 just keep coming. Kudos to EON for taking a risk casting a drama director for TWINE, despite the mixed bag it ended up being. Consider it a warmup for Skyfall. Heard lots of great things about 7up.
