When the most meaningful character in pop culture is Maude Flanders because she stays dead this too says something about the general intellectual makeup of the 21st century so far…
Somehow Palpatine returned.
I realy had no idea who that was, so I looked her up and… I can’t remember her. It was years ago that I watched The Simpsons, I think it must have been in the nineties.
Yes, end of the 90s. It’s notable now that a cartoon satire show famous for its flexible reality/disregard for continuity hasn’t reanimated this character. But sometimes dead means dead.
This could turn out to be a landmark lawsuit shaping the future relationship between media/entertainment corporations and AI pioneer firms. Both are not known for their hesitation to harness whatever they find useful to their own purposes.
Q become M?
Interesting.
I thought that already happened, or was that MI5?
What is the difference exactly?
Stella Rimington; she was the first female DG of MI5* in 1992.
*Which is the inland security service dealing with counter-espionage, counterterrorism, various forms of extremism monitoring and industry espionage on British soil.
Isn’t MI5 roughly the equivalent of the FBI in America and MI6 is likewise the equivalent of the CIA in the U.S.?
Sort of. MI5 is accountable to the Home Office and MI6/SIS to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
Don’t ask about MI19 otherwise someone will probably set MI19 on you.
And here’s some news on our Austrian pirate trying to board the 007 ship and plunder its booties. Sounds like this could end up taking considerable time and effort. Apart from the King’s ransom for the involved attorneys and law firms. If Kleindienst has even the slightest chance to succeed with his move he could end up throwing a spanner into the BOND 26 schedule.
Perhaps best solved out of court…
Bezos can’t deal with that guy?
The European IP law firm Withers & Rogers said this was likely to be because the “intention to use test” that applications were submitted to was more stringently applied by the UK’s Intellectual Property Office than its continental equivalent the EU Intellectual Property Office. “Danjaq would be more likely to object to the registration [in the UK] on the grounds of ‘bad faith’,” said Mark Caddle, a partner and trademark attorney at Withers & Rogers.
He’s speculating on a lengthy court battle, threatening injunctions on Danjaq’s/Eon’s/Amazon’s running ops. BOND 26 being the main target if he can claim it would impair on his own intended use.
I can’t judge how big this guy’s chances are. But even if he’s just able to shut down production for a time that wouldn’t be something Amazon would want on the table.
You all know how fond I am of the em dash:
One should think that B. would make him an offer he can’t refuse.
For once, I totally agree with Gleiberman.
So, the court equating AI with people in a devestating decision…
Terrible. But hey, let’s go ahead and destroy human creativity and jobs because… progress?
And by the way: we‘re doomed…
