Not hugely surprising or innovative; I think I’ve read similar pitches at least since the turn of the century, with Tarantino’s at least being related to the concept. Not surprising this didn’t catch fire back then.

Well, 1.000 out of approximately 231.000 employees isn’t all that much. But the last round of layoffs was only three years ago, 7.000 back then. And it’s a general sign of the pressures the industry has to cope with. Plus, this stuff doesn’t even address yet the last six weeks and their possible fallout. We’re going to hear about that by December or early next year…

Definitely a huge problem, the same applies to sound. Modern microphones replace the boom operator, but the idea that now even the lowest mumbling can be picked up makes actors enunciate less, supposedly to speak more realistically. Which leads to unintelligible line readings. Which leads to audiences click on the subtitles. Which leads to overcrowding the screen and subtracting from the power of the image.

Yeah, not a good development for cinema at all.
