What do you think about the NTTD release date?

Well I have tickets for the 9th at noon (in the US). Well see how comfortable I am on going when it gets closer. I’ll eat the tickets if I end up not going. I don’t mind supporting the franchise. They’ve given me years of entertainment.

Just make sure there’s enough toast with them…

I hope everyone that is going will enjoy the movie. I am likely to be going the Wednesday after it comes out in Canada. Like others, I was hesitant due to COVID, but our vaccination rate is fairly high and we will go on a Wednesday when the crowds will be lower.

I have remained reasonably spoiler free and have not watched the last 2-3 trailers as I want to be reasonably surprised when I see the movie. While I don’t post much, I am here nearly every day and enjoy the insights and views of others. I will probably take a break until I see the movie to try and avoid accidentally tripping over a spoiler. I look forward to reading the thoughts of others on the new movie. Let’s all have a great time as it will be at least a few years before we get to do this again! All the best.

As a fellow Canadian, I must say your patience is stronger than mine. I’ll likely be there the first weekend, if not at the late show on October 7.

Piracy could be an even bigger problem for “No Time to Die,” given that it will hit Hong Kong and Taiwan a full month before its China debut.

Doesn’t the HBO Max of it all make Dune more at risk of piracy? HD digital copies available the day of release in the US versus actually having to carry a video camera into a cinema and record it?

Ah, no. This just wouldn’t do justice to the real pirate experience. Of course, if someone had the clever idea of filming it off their TV or computer screen…

A snippet from the Bond article in the Sunday Times today…

“In the first 24 hours of tickets being on sale for NTTD, customers booked as many seats at Vue cinemas as booked for Spectre in its first four and a half weeks.”

Then get someone to walk in front of the camera

I demand a pan and scan copy of the IMAX version.

Definitely a fan art poster - sold on Amazon - but kind of fun:

The glider’s trail slightly bettered and corrected here, together with credits.

When a fan-made poster is better than the official ones.

That poster made me remember what I wondered as a child when I saw the depicted women on Bond posters: why do they always stand so contortedly?

That’s contorted?

Oh, my, that sitting position must hurt.

And that kneeling…

It seems it is to be a Royal Premiere!

Prince Charles and Camilla, and William and Kate, no less.

Interesting analysis regarding Bond having older and more risk-averse audiences:

There is a definite “we have no clue as there’s no immediate comparison” vibe in that.

I don’t see either turning a profit - both expensive to make in an environment that is a coin toss on cultural ease from week to week and a good week in the US isn’t the same as a good week in China, which is different again from what’s going to be a good week in Europe.

Can this film be profitable?
