What do you think about the NTTD release date?

Posters without a definitive date attached don’t get ‘bad’ as such; they would theoretically be good for any day the release is finally decided to happen. Whether that’s actually the reason behind new posters I cannot tell though.

The lack of a Date notwithstanding, if the poster is printed now and there isn’t any confidence about November, the above poster could be wasted through November '21.

Maybe they will be going ahead with November '20 after all…

By Monday there would be figures for TENET’s opening - some figures that would be with theatres open/closed/restricted to whatever social distancing. But I think a tendency should be visible.

I don’t think November will stick, not as long as case numbers are still increasing. The only reason fatalities didn’t pick up in the same region is that currently younger people are the playground of the virus - with autumn that’s going to change…

In the end the deciding factor will be how much investors are prepared to cut back their expectations on the box office.

In November flu season will be in full swing as well, and with the US election surely becoming another hotbed for protests, a US release will not generate the amount MGM needs. The rest of the world will not bring in enough money either.

The decision not to publish the daily earnings of TENET before Monday already indicates how afraid WB is that the box office will negatively affect attendance.

My unteachable nephew went to a screening here in Germany - and the picture he took from the auditorium showed no one else. On a Thursday evening.

Sounds like thankfully, the rest of Germany IS teachable!

I think we’ll definitely hear something about the NTTD release date within the next couple of weeks.

And I don’t think it’ll be good news.

Well, like SAF and others here, I’m hoping for a VOD release. Surely with so many people watching things on demand (apart from me, as it happens), they’d be fools not to go with that.

Streaming is brilliant for people who can’t afford a babysitter, or are reluctant to go to the cinema on dark winter evenings, or simply don’t want to leave the conveniences of their own homes.

I think it would be a success, particularly if social media and word of mouth make seeing NTTD fashionable, like seeing SF was.

Besides, sooner or later, all studios/companies will have to cut their losses and move on, and any film on their shelf for too long will soon become old news.

The only way that we’ll see a VOD release is if Mulan does insane numbers when it debuts on Disney+ (spoiler alert: it won’t).

Bond’s not coming to VOD. We’re going to hear about a delay until spring 2021 in the next few weeks, followed by the announcement of a delay to fall 2021 sometime early next year.

They are obviously waiting on something. I think it’s VOD.

From The New York Times:

“We felt safe,” Ms. Gumataotao said. She added, “There was not a big crowd, but if there was we would have felt differently.”

“It felt odd,” Shawn Mitchell, 25, said about returning to the movies as he left Regal Sunset Station on Thursday. “It was harder to just zone out during the movie. Now you’re more aware of what’s happening around you in the theater.”

Getting back to that poster for a minute, the 8" by 10" print I have says April 2, but the 11" by 17" just says “April.” And yes, I have two sizes of the same poster style as I’ve resorted to collecting No Time to Die poster reprints in my latest obsession over this movie while awaiting release.

I once had my house filled with full size 27" by 40" posters, but have opted for the 11 by 17 mini posters as I’ve downsized to a condo. Plus, it’s cheaper!

The interesting thing about the design of the poster in question is that it’s one of the few that do not feature a gun. The only other one I can think of is the initial Spectre poster with the gunshot on the windshield, of which this design could be interpreted as a sequel or followup. Madeline’s character poster for NTTD doesn’t have a gun either, but Ana de Arma’s and Lyshanna Lynch’s do. There isn’t always a car, or girl, or even James Bond in a poster, but the highest percentage of them have guns.

As for the release date, maybe we’re all dyslexic and the ‘20 is actually 20’. NTTD coming 20 something …

Are you talking about the UK quads or 1 Sheets?

As for Bond posters without guns.

  1. Goldfinger French petit
  2. Thunderball quad
  3. Japanese Tomorrow Never Dies

But, that’s about it.

Yes, sorry.

I was only going for posters that were;

a) Actually Printed, and
b) Part of the official campaign and not just an image that was a licensed Maxi product.

The bullet hole was not printed anywhere (Except a Bollinger display), and the Door image is only Maxi.

Yes! Forgot about the NTTD tux shot, which I have on a wall too.

I don’t think I’ve seen #1. But doesn’t the TB quad at least have a speargun? The ones I have, 30th anniversary and original design, all do. To answer your question, for Connery I have UK quads. I had some 24 by 36 for a while, but sold them at a garage sale opting for full size instead. The rest of the Bond actors I have the 27 by 40 versions. I’ll have to take a look at the TND Japanese one again. Notably, DAD’s teaser has a gun on ice and nothing else.

Ok, and I was going for actual gun (bullets and gunpowder), and not compressed air.

Although arguably, I left out all the Moonraker posters that had laser guns, which have neither gunpowder nor bullets. It’s all in the definition.

As for the 24 x 36, were all these licensed reprints of quads? And the 27 x 40, were they all original 1 Sheets?

The bullet hole teaser for Spectre was printed in the UK.

Wasn’t aware the door poster hadn’t been…it might when the film ACTUALLY comes out…

Well, not as a Quad or 1 Sheet. It might have been used as part of other campaigns, such as the Bollinger one I mentioned. The initial printed teasers were the single image of Craig in grey top.

Any other form of printing would have been one of those eBay unlicensed knock offs.

Yeah, I’m counting the spear guns and laser guns. The 24 by 36 I picked up at Prints Plus (defunct U.S. poster store) back in '94. That’s what got me started. Then I started to pursue the originals. I have most of the originals from OHMSS on, save DAF, but since Craig am willing to settle for the reprints. Also, the Japanese ones I recently started to get the reprints of as their artwork from all the 60s films are very good, and TSWLM, FYEO and OP are also noteworthy.

There’s another one without a gun, but I can’t upload it.

And look carefully here,

Connery holding a gun next to Honour Blackman.

Ok, fair play.

Your game, your rules sir.

If we are allowed IMAX posters, the SPECTRE poster is of just Craig in Day of Dead mask.
