I spent a few days on business in San Diego, and the whole trip was one long Bond moment. Starting with an on time arrival in San Diego, despite the bad weather that cancelled/delayed 9,000 flight that day, the trip continued with a surprise rental car upgrade (a very new, dark grey Mustang vice the econo-box I reserved), eating at my favorite restaurants, breezing through security (clearances are usually a bane of my existence, but not this time), suiting up for a meeting (I usually wear polos and khakis), completing my assigned mission (evaluating training for a new piece of Navy equipment), and a smooth return trip back to Norfolk. It was one of the smoothest trips I’ve had in a long time, just like Bond experiences. After all, our man never had a flight delayed/cancelled nor did he run from one end of an airport to another to make a connecting flight (like I had to do in March), or get a piece of crap rental car (again like I did in March).

Left your home in Norfolk, Virginia, California on your mind? Sounds like you found the Promised Land…

Nah. I was stationed in San Diego on the USS Peleliu back in '99-'00. I was very happy to be transferred back to Norfolk. San Diego’s just too damned expensive.

Bloke at work, just noticed my watch and asked if it was a Rolex!

Ordered this set of little beauties a few days ago (even though a certain Mr Moore is absent) only to get an email today, telling me that they are not currently shipping from Russia to the UK at the moment

How to impress your mother and give her the idea that all this James Bond stuff actually is not a complete waste of time.

My mom likes to listen to a classical music radio station when she’s cooking on Sundays. This morning: “Oh, now I didn’t pay attention what the announcer said, I never know what this piano piece is…”
Me: “Oh, that’s Chopin’s Raindrop Prelude. Hugo Drax plays it in Moonraker…”

And just four decades and small change later the big payoff. :sunglasses:
