Who do you want for Bond 7?

I saw that, I thought there was only 1 of the 6 who would agree to that…and Moore just went to school with people like that.

Esit: definitely liking the joke though.

After today’s news, my pick is Pierce Brosnan. And I would love it!

Pierce Brosnan has got an idea about how a lot of us feel today. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:
The situation once again is opaque :smirk:

Something thought to be ridiculous (it still could be) at least has a better chance of happening. I wouldn’t be against Amazon opening up their enormous wallet and asking Brosnan to do a limited series. He has said many times he didn’t think he quite nailed the role. This would be his chance. It really would depend what spinoff content would be. A Brosnan return would be a big deal, and I could see most fans being excited.

Okay, I’ll play…

I’ve generally been against the idea of bringing back a Bond actor, but given how much outrage there seems to be out there today about the news, bringing back Brosnan for a film or some kind of limited series might be the trick to both smooth things over with the fans as well as deliver something that would be guaranteed to be a big deal, even beyond the usual hype that a new Bond film with a new actor tends to get.

I have to be honest, I can’t stop thinking about this idea now. Love or hate the final product, Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen did reprise their roles for Disney. If streaming content must happen I’d rather it be something like this, rather than Q’s origin story.

I loved Brosnan as Bond.

And I don’t want a young Bond.

But really, Brosnan is too old now to be Bond again.

I like him already.

He is 71 currently, and I get that line of thinking. Long term would be madness. But for a one-off and very specific story (I’m thinking not in cinemas to differentiate from the real new guy) it could work, especially if it was in a stripped down detective style. Just daydreaming here - Amazon would probably want to expand upon the new actor’s era once that gets started and keep the past in the past.

The thing is: Brosnan did that “old Bond”-kind of role in last year’s “FAST CHARLIE”. A terrific film directed by Philipp Noyce.

I’m all in.

Hell, why not. For a one off. It would bring back fond memories.

Characters like Spider-Man can be depicted to be older but are typically rooted in their teenage years, and for that alone I’ve sadly felt less connection as I’ve aged well beyond them. I don’t think that issue exists with Bond in the same way. He needs to be prime age to be on active duty, but even in retirement he’s always himself - ‘just a man’, fronting up to the world without a mask or theatrical costume, but rather a tuxedo. James Bond is a way of living life as much as anything, not just taking down world ending threats.

I will have to give that one a watch. I certainly got that vibe from the November Man as well. Not a great film but a good one that I enjoyed. Loved Brosnan in it.

Perhaps they could riff a bit on Le Carrés “A Murder of Quality” which has Smiley outside of the espionage world. I think that could work but if they did go down that road, it would be nice if it could link back into the world of espionage during the film. I loved Craig but really wished we would have gotten one more Brosnan film.

Brosnan interested but probably not happening.

Speaking of James Bond, I’m not sure if you know, but there’s a sentiment out there that people would like to see you come back and play an older version of the character. Are you aware of that? Would you be interested in it?

I’ve heard of that. Of course, how could I not be interested? But it’s a delicate situation now. I think it’s best to let sleeping dogs lie, really. I think so. It’s a rather romantic notion and idea, but I think everything changes, everything falls apart. I think that it’s best left to another man, really. Fresh blood.

Shame really. I’m all in on an Old Man Bond movie now. Stripped-down espionage, more detective in tone. Bond older, weathered, relying less on gadgets and bombast, focusing instead on grit, intuition, and a slower, more cerebral approach to espionage.

What about an old man limited series. Say 6 episodes? Have it on Prime in a non-movie year.
