Who do you want for Bond 7?

It would be good, but Brosnan isn’t wrong.

I’d love it if he came back.

I’m going to go and say it: I think it’s likely. Not necessarily very likely, but I think that’s something Amazon would do. Maybe a series, like Ewan McGregor coming back to play Obi Wan Kenobi for Disney+ (which was originally going to be a film).

Seems more like a fan wish to me and very, very unlikely, especially when he himself clearly has reservations about it.
Amazon will go for someone who also appeals primarily to a younger audience and for most young people, Brosnan is just one of those old actors who once played him, but whose return they are not exactly looking forward to.

I certainly think it would be a good idea to cast someone young and fashionable.

Depends how quickly Amazon will want to get on with it.

Such is the money in play that it may be feasible to make both a Brosnan film and a new actor film quite close together or even simultaneously. After all, DC had three Batmans at the same time a couple of years ago.

Pierce would bite off their arm to play it again. It took him years to get over losing the role in 2004.

We always get carried away and think of the best case scenario. Coming back could be a victory lap or an unnecessary misstep. It’s usually the latter. Is it worth Brosnan flipping that coin if the status quo, which has been settled since 2002, is fine the way it is? Sure, DAD has a reputation that trends negative. But it’s not enough to diminish the love those fans have for the man and his era.

Brosnan has said he didn’t quite nail the role, and if a miniseries didn’t meet expectations that comment could become amplified. I think Brosnan could deliver, but sometimes it’s best to leave mystery and have people ask what if?

I am not saying he won’t be Bond but I do consider myself a fan and I am not convinced!

I agree and I sincerely hope he will not be.

Bookies stopped taking bets on him some weeks ago. Make of that what you will*…:man_shrugging:t3:

*The old geezers amongst us may remember times when Hugh Grant was a bookie favourite for the part, so there.

Whoever runs the ship, this is something that will never change.
Reading tea leaves. Yawn. Wake me up when there’s a confirmation and a press conference to go with it.

I question if Omega would make someone an ambassador before an official announcement, providing they have inside knowledge. I would’ve thought the actor would be revealed by the producers first and inherit the watch deal by default.

I watched most of Kraven the Hunter last night with ATJ in the lead. I say I watched most of it because at about 90 minutes in I couldn’t take any more bad acting and even worse CGI. I have previously liked ATJ more than a lot of folks on this forum, so I’m gonna lay most of the blame at the feet of director J. C. Chandor. For my money absolutely nothing worked in the film, which goes way beyond ATJ’s performance. However, I’ve seen good actors that impressed me in spite of being in movies that I would otherwise classify as garbage. Such was not the case here.

At the moment I cannot say ATJ does anything for me, Bond or otherwise. If he really went past a point of being merely one amongst several options I fail to get what the new amazing powers that be see in him. But I’m willing to be won over and admit I’m not the core target audience any more.

For the time being though I consider this the usual ballyhoo around the fresh recasting of the role.

I come back to this. I have no idea when we can expect an announcement (late 2025/early 2026?) but I know Amazon are getting things started. I’m a Craig fan but I feel no jealousy with whatever comes next. The very existence of the character is on the line and it’s in everybody’s interest for Bond 26 to work.

Are we still waiting of the EON/Amazon deal to be officially signed or has that been done?

Wasn’t that supposed to take about six months?

By the way, the Seth Rogen series „The Studio“ makes a potential studio sale to Amazon an important plot point of its finale, with some biting commentary about what happened to MGM through that sale. Interesting.

He could be good, not my choice, but his cameo in The Kings Man had some potential?

Jack Lowden or Rege Jean Page would be my choice.
