Since we have been disappointed with October 5th offerings I would not suspect that Amazon even knows what and when James Bond day is.
The real problem in announcing the next guy is the upcoming press tour for DUNE 3. I don’t think Villeneuve will want to be asked about the chosen guy during that. So either they do it fast, before the tour, and then they prohibit questions about Bond - or they wait until that tour is finished and the film has been released.

I suppose if the new Bond has really been cast - and he has; why else would Knight say so? - it will be quite hard to keep it under wraps for the rest of the year. The easiest would be to come clean now, within the rest of September so the novelty can wear off until DUNE 3.
It would also make sense that Lowden gets teased now (if it is him) since it very likely means it will affect Slow Horses one way or another and Oldman would probably be one of the first in the cast to hear about it.

Agree with @Dustin. It wouldn’t surprise me to hear an announcement this month. Leaving it too much longer risks the actor’s name being leaked, which risks knocking the producers out of the publicity driving seat. I imagine they will want to get this out as soon as possible, in as controlled a way as possible.

I don’t think it would be a publicity thing, they would’ve just got an extra bit they didn’t have to pay for - more the risk of what has happened with James Bond and Doctor Who more than once of someone putting on a HUGE bet on that actor being cast. It’s technically insider trading but often happens without consequence.

This would be my take, too. Give us the name now, because if not, everything around the Dune 3 press junket would be speculations about the new Bond. Every bit remark and every mentioning of any name would lead to more and more wild speculations and would draw much attention from Dune 3.
And then the title on October 5th.

Even if they do announce it now, Villeneuve will be hammered with Bond questions during the Dune release.

It’s more if they do announcements long before Dune 3 then requesting journalists do not ask about Bond 26 on the press run seems less unreasonable.

That’s what I assume. If the main answer is out there they can make no-Bond-questions their default policy. What is it, two weeks or three at most? With the holidays looming and there’s likely one event scheduled anyway to kick off main photography in January.

I have been to lesser junkets in which journalists were cut off for asking questions which they were explicitly told to avoid. I guess Villeneuve will get an even more privileged treatment.

If you’re a journalist and super eager, massively invested in getting some major scoop about BOND 26, then the DUNE 3 presser isn’t the place to get that anyway.
