Expanded David Arnold soundtracks

In which case I must ask, how complete is the For Your Eyes Only soundtrack?!?!?

That one was released expanded.

Actually, FWIW, Monty Norman and Burt Bacharach are still alive too.

Monty Norman I was aware, slightly after posting, but I wasn’t really missing anything from that…”score”

The rumour on score boards was Arnold‘s TND was LLL‘s next project. But this one had an extended rerelease at the time, so it is not that essential for me. I hope for a complete box set of all Bond scores - probably a pipe dream.

Extra tracks for TMWTGG are available on Youtube. I managed to download most of them. I can’t do anything but listen to the extras from TSWLM, also playing on YT.

Yes, and I would add Monty Norman’s Dr. No.

There’s a handful of tunes I miss from the Dr. No score…Death Of The Tarantula, the cue of the killing of the river guard, and the music following the death of Dr. No.

I had no idea that track was never officially released.

Yeah, I’ve got it and I’m thankful for it, but it’s still not quite the same–or as good–as the original.

The extra tracks from YouTube of Golden Gun, Spy, Moonraker, Octopussy etc are not original music, it’s better than nothing, but it doesn’t realy count as available original bonus score tracks. Or you get versions with a lot of background noice on it.

Those youtube extra tracks were done by gkgyver. He posted about doing those rerecording on the old CBN site. Does he still visit here?

He doesn’t seem to add anything to his youtube account for years now. I wonder if he might return to rerecording lost Bond tracks. I still listen to the cues he did a lot, and appreciate his hard work.

Thanks to vigilance on eBay, I’ve managed to find expanded/complete and/or 2CD versions of many Bond soundtracks, usually “For Promotional Use Only.” These include GoldenEye (with proper tank chase music), LTK score only, 2CD versions of all Arnold’s scores (TND through QoS), and even TSWLM and MR 1CD scores expanded with bonus tracks. They may not be official, but do sound like original recordings. The only disappointment I found was TMWTGG expanded score which was clearly lifted from surround rear channels. But I still buy official releases as they are often remixed/remastered to a higher quality, and I want to support film score restorations whenever possible.

Bah, no David Arnold Bond this year, but Stargate instead: https://twitter.com/lalalandrecords/status/1200325059472052226

LLL said a few months ago that no expanded Bond score was possible due to EON being too busy with NO TIME TO DIE.

Next year maybe.

I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but an official Eric Serra Goldeneye score is one of my holy grails. I’ve always been fascinated with the sound he went for, particularly how it contrasts with basically everything else in the franchise.

That was a good score of his. I even bought the 3CD Godzilla score he did. Better than the movie!

It’s grown on me with time. Goldeneye Overture, We Share the Same Passions, and Run, Shoot, and Jump are standouts on the score. Just wasn’t a fan of Ladies First and A Pleasant Drive in St. Petersburg.

It was cut from the film for a reason…

I do love the Goldeneye Overture, and I admire Eon on the willingness, at the 17th film, to experiment.

I like the soundtrack better as a stand alone than as working in the background of the film. It’s ok by itself although not that Bondian (GoldenEye Overture and Run, Shoot, and Jump are by far the best). But it largely doesn’t work at all in the film, and is all the more noticeable for it.

Im a bit late here, but I have that track with that extension (African rundown) but the ending of that track is still not film version.
