By the way: Lalaland Records confirmed on a film score message board that expansions were planned for TND, LTK and MR - and that EON was a pleasure to work with. However, with the release of NTTD shifted again and again it is pushed back indefinitely since the studio does not want to have an older score released because it might affect sales of the current one. Also, as LLL says, MGM is on sale.
But still… this is good news, because that means they at least have looked/ will look for the always so called “lost” Moonraker score and maybe they even have it stacked somewhere ready to use it.
True!
MOONRAKER expanded will be a huge seller for enthusiasts.
The possibility of an expanded Moonraker score is a big and exciting development. Fans have been wanting that for ages. I now have faith it will happen one day.
This is great news. I’ll definitely be getting them whenever they are released.
Also, I remember the guy who produced the previously expanded additions has mentioned in the past that he had wanted to include The Man With The Golden Gun along with the others at the time but had to drop it due to, if I remember correctly, budget reasons.
Yes, you’re right. That was Lukas Kendall and he said that he also found the tape with the The Spy Who Loved Me score, but that was not a regular tape and would have cost too much time and money. He didn’t listen to it, so he doesn’t know what is actualy on that tape.
In the end there was still only money for one expanded score and he had to choose between LALD and Golden Gun, he chose the first one.
I think Barry’s TMWTGG is underrated given the circumstances he was operating in. Goodnight Goodnight is one of my favourites. But Lukas definitely made the right decision by going with LALD.
LTK and TSWLM are soundtracks in dire need of expansion, so after MR they’d be my focus.
Moonraker would be the best option here, as TND already has another “official” expanded score.
I am still looking forward to La La Land Records releasing more James Bond expanded soundtracks once ‘No time to die’ has been released, let’s hope this happens next year for 60th anniversary.
Top of my list is Moonraker & LIcence to Kill (this has at least 58 minutes not released), although would really like the following Barry albums expanded MWTGG, Octopussy & AVTAK & Thunderball (still has about 20 minutes unreleased music) & non Barry scores TND & TSWLM & Goldeneye (about 40 - 50 minutes unreleased music)
I am a great believer that anything is possible, who would have thought that La La Land Records would have been able to do Die another day expanded score (2017) & The world is not enough expanded (2018). I know the 1st 3 x films the master tapes are said to be lost but they can always lift them by other means.
You never know what might happen with the 60th Anniversary coming up in 2022 for me this is too good an opportunity to miss for the James Bond scores as this is the one category the music that has not been tapped apart from the fantastic expansions Lukas Kendall did in 2003 on 4 of the older scores.
I think it would be great for perhaps expanded score box sets for the Bond actors who played Bond , a Connery Box set , a combined Lazenby & Dalton Box set, Moore Box set, Brosnan Box set (offer with DAD & TWINE & without) & finally a Craig Box set or other options like a full expanded score Boxset , let’s hope & pray La La Land Records will be able to do this or at least more Single Expanded Bond scores as I know the James Bond music community is really hoping this will happen.
I own a copy now. I’ve always enjoyed the Bond theme during the PTS when Bond jumps out the window. Snow Business, Casino and Caviar Factory are also good, but on the whole the score doesn’t do much for me. Glad to have it for completist purposes though.
I rank the Arnold scores like this:
- Tomorrow Never Dies
- Casino Royale
- Quantum of Solace
- Die Another Day
- The World Is Not Enough
The Craig scores are brilliant.
However his debut was really something special, particularly his usage of the Bond theme. The lounge ambience tracks at Carver’s party are underrated, and feel like a modern update of the 1960s. I actually quite like his DAD score, but the electronics are overdone in parts.
Interesting what Arnold tweeted today:
And then deleted…curious
Bit of a premature tweeting, I suppose.
Think before you post is probably the lesson here.
What did the original tweet say?
He had a CD posted which featured several submissions for the TND song.
James Bond - The Missing Music
A summary is listed below of roughly what is currently missing from each EON James Bond film score that has been released on CD to date :-
DR NO - tecnhically none of the orchestral score is released, around 15-20 minutes
FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE - around 15 minutes
GOLDFINGER - around 15 minutes
THUNDERBALL -20-25 minutes, including some album only recordings and unfinished music
YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE - if you don’t count re-edited cues, this one is mostly complete
ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE - around 10 minutes
DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER - 5 seconds
LIVE AND LET DIE - 5 seconds
THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN - around 25 minutes
THE SPY WHO LOVED ME - the whole score is missing, around 40 minutes
MOONRAKER - around 8-10 minutes
FOR YOUR EYES ONLY - around 10 minutes
OCTOPUSSY - around 25-30 minutes, but that doesn’t include any circus music, that was library recording
A VIEW TO A KILL - around 16 minutes
THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS - around 8-10 minutes
LICENSE TO KILL - around 40 minutes
GOLDENEYE - about 20 mins, plus 5:52 for the John Altman tank chase cue
TOMORROW NEVER DIES - about 26 minutes
THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH - complete as per La La Land Records Release 2018
DIE ANOTHER DAY - complete as per La La Land Records Release 2017
CASINO ROYALE - around 10 minutes still to be released on CD
QUANTUM OF SOLACE- about 20 Minutes of music to still to be released on CD ?
SKYFALL - about 30 to 40 Minutes of music to still to be released on CD ?
SPECTRE - about 30 to 40 Minutes of music to still to be released on CD ?
NO TIME TO DIE - about 69 minutes
As you can see from above there is so much more music that us James Bond music fans are missing from a large number of the Bond films , so many great cues probably in total over 7 hours of unreleased music, that’s a huge amount of missing music, that deserves to be heard.
La La Land Records have already done a fantastic job of releasing 2 x expanded score versions The World is Not Enough in 2018 & Die Another Day in 2017 in chronological film order.
Let’s hope La La Land Records can continue releasing more James Bond expanded soundtracks now ‘NO TIME TO DIE ’ has been released & let’s hope this happens this year for 60th anniversary.
Top of my list is Moonraker & LIcence to Kill (this has at least 40 minutes not released), although would really like the following John Barry albums expanded MWTGG ( about 25 minutes unreleased music), Octopussy (about 25 - 30 minutes unreleased music), AVTAK (about 16 minutes unreleased music) & Thunderball (still has about 20 - 25 minutes unreleased music) & non Barry scores TND & TSWLM & Goldeneye (about 25 minutes unreleased music)

Lets hope La La Land Records are looking at all these possible options for the 60th anniversary & they can get through any red tape , as it too bigger opportunity to miss, considering the last big lot of expanded Bond scores was in 2003 almost 20 years ago.
What do other Bond Music fans think on this thread of the missing James Bond Music cues & expanding them on new Double CD releases ?
Wow, so much is missing? You’re sure?
In any event, I would love to get a complete MOONRAKER and LICENSE TO KILL.
Yes sure of this & this maybe an under estimate on the more recent Daniel Craig films.
But agree we need an expanded Moonraker & Licence to Kill score would also love all the John Barry scores Expanded 1st
Dr. No actualy has two tracks from the original score: “The Island speaks” and “Love At Last”.
From TND there was already released a second score cd with most of the unreleased score of the second half of the movie and incl. an interview with Arnold.
Also a couple of the action cues of the first half of LTK were used again in the second half of the movie.
