007 in a flop. Why be an extra when you can be Bond?
Better version of events for Casino Royale:
Vesper and Bond happy in the film, but then Vesper steals the money to give you Gettler leading to her suicide by drowning and heartbreaking apology to Bond
OR
Vesper’s depression and ultimate suicide over falling in love and betraying Bond in the novel
?
Casino’s construction chase, reinvented Bond in one action sequence for a new generation - more visceral, the parkour was pretty new for the time - great scene, Istanbul was fine but nothing particularly new in the scheme of things
…both? First half is 80’s action movies/tv shows of the time. It then changes to Yojimbo once it hits Isthmus. Second half is better so I’m going with Yojimbo.
The ott villain who was more prescient of the 21st Century
The Living Daylights - whatever their differences with John Barry May have been at the time, it is one of the most modern Bond songs, well written and interestingly produced with some great Barry flourishes in the final product. FYEO is a great pop song too, nothing against it I just have a lot more positive to say about TLD
James Bond gets a “Joker” style one shot alternate take film:
Christopher Nolan directs Tom Hardy as 007
Or
Steven Spielberg directs a Bridge of Spies esque period film
I don’t have much a problem with either. I think the issue with Tom Hardy is that he would probably be brought in as a CraigBond clone. As for Nolan, I would be afraid of him overplotting the story, which is what we got with Mendes in Spectre.
GARDNER!
I rate 6 of his first nine books as highly as the best of Fleming. With Benson, I admire only two (Z-10 & HTTK).
Although I admit, Benson successfully duplicated Fleming’s ability to describe a meal and leave you feeling like you just ate it yourself (or, in the case of TMWTRT, leaving you with a yearning for sushi).
So, in the same vein, better trilogy:
Gardner’s SPECTRE trilogy (For Special Services, Role of Honour & Nobody Lives For Ever)
or
Benson’s UNION trilogy (High Time to Kill, Doubleshot & Never Dream of Dying)
?
“Your a Toro too” has to be Octopussy for me.
Idris Elba (or another actor in their 40s)does a quick 1/2 pictures whilst BB waits for her actual choice to age/materialise.
Or
DC goes on for another 1/2 ala Sir Roger
