Is there anything in Bond history worse than the tidal wave scene?

Lovely that this thread has evolved into something positive, celebrating a 007 movie which in retrospect was rather unloved.

Makes me wonder which unloved Bond we can turn into a beloved item as well.

How about…

The Living Daylights seems a bit maligned…?

The most unjustly maligned in my book. Apart from a half formed plot, Mr Bean as the henchman and a couple of appallingly cut action sequences… Ok, that’s quite a lot isn’t it? But apart from that it’s bloody great!

What work’s in this unafraid, edgy Bond movie far outweighs what doesn’t work and there’s a fair amount of what doesn’t work.

I think it’s very flemingesque
Actually I have re-watched most of them recently and seeing Moonraker on the big screen , aligned with the comfort discussions we’ve had here I’m going to redo my rankings!
Top three are unchanged though

I watched it a couple of weeks ago and found the things that had bothered me much less irksome and far outweighed by great set pieces like the opera and a criminally underrated villain in Mr Greene. As for Moonraker, it was my first ever Bond and so is forever sacrosanct!

Mine too- I was the happiest 8 year old in the country that afternoon.

It was almost the first movie I ever saw at the cinema, but I was distraught to find it wasn’t on at the small south coast seaside we were holidaying in. Had to settle for Battlestar Galactica breaking my cinematic cherry, which was still pretty cool.

It seemed that some reviewers may’ve preferred a bullet to sitting through to the end of QoS, such was their glee in decrying it.

I rather like the film without loving it–it has moments, but it is very hit-and-miss. It is not a grand queer failure as is DAF.

It was my first Bond and my first cinema and it just blew me away. It had everything a 7 year old boy could want. The only problem was I had nightmares about Jaws for days!!!:confounded::joy:

Yeah. The color doesn’t bother me or even its width, which isn’t that bad especially for the time. It’s simply that the tie is WAAAAAAY too short. It totally ruins the look and you can’t help but think how James Bond would ever be so uncool as to tie his tie so short. As Yellow-Pinky wondered, how did the costume designer/wardrobe person or especially Guy Hamilton or even Sean Connery allow it? It’s not like they could have overlooked it. It’s impossible. It stands out like the red sun on the Japanese flag.

To me, this is the worst wardrobe malfunction for Bond in the whole series.

It is ironic that it seems to have become iconic! I covet the Thunderball swim shorts and long sleeve polo
