It absolutely is the perfect title for a sequel given YOLT had already been taken the film before. I do ponder what Fleming material they would’ve utilised if Lazenby returned. I’m guessing aspects of Fleming’s YOLT but based around an original story. A revenge thriller would’ve flowed on seamlessly considering Bond acted alone with Draco during the Piz Gloria raid.
I agree with everything you guys said. Not to mention, who wouldn’t want more of this. Easily one of the most badass, Bondian shots of James Bond in the whole series.

Why did Eon do the Tracy sequence in the wrong order, anyway? They really botched it.
Can’t remember where I heard or read this (maybe one of the old DVD special features from the 90s and John Cork), EON had “wanted” to do OHMSS in 65, but the whole McClory thing took over and doing TB made more sense, legally, one might say.

Attempts to adapt OHMSS go back to 1964. Maibaum did a treatment close to the novel - incidentally with a key scene set at Genoa’s Staglieno cemetery - but still significantly different from the film we know.
From there later script versions increasingly veer off the path of the novel, introducing a zoo and a chimp. GOLDFINGER’s early prints supposedly announced ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE as next film, but then the THUNDERBALL deal came through with McClory and OHMSS had to wait.
After THUNDERBALL then Connery voiced his complaints about shooting schedules, and it was also thought that OHMSS would come across as Thunderball-on-ski. The Asian market was beginning to heat up for Bond, so YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE got the go. Also, the humour of the films didn’t mix well with the tragic story of OHMSS.
During this time, 1965 to 1966, further versions of the OHMSS script were commissioned, heavy with gadgetry (an amphibious Aston!) and sometimes going far far into hollow-volcano land. That the finished product of 1969 is so close to the novel again is purely a result of the previous two over-the-top entries.
Most of this background can be learned from Charles Helfenstein’s rather magnificent The Making of ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE.

In the upcoming instalment, No Time To Die , no fewer than four Aston Martin’s are featured.

Marek has an excellent working relationship with Barbara Broccoli, Michael Wilson and Daniel Craig.
“They typically come to my studio before they’re about to finalise the script and we take them through the cars we have in our line-up. It’s very much a mutual partnership – not a pay-to-play relationship,” he explains.

One of the shots that really connects with me is Bond taking off the tarp from Dalton’s Vantage - the old warrior finally deciding to ride back into battle, much like Affleck’s Bruce Wayne in BvS. Do we think this little scene takes place at MI6 before he visits Q? Or at a personal garage?
Depends. What would make more sense, Bond retired on Jamaica - and still having a trick car in London? Another one (and one he might have had better use for in SKYFALL)?
Or Q having brought himself some homework from SIS, just in case he gets bored on weekends?
Maybe it’s not even addressed at all, just a car from a huge number of stashes SIS lost track of - but Bond kept up his sleeve just in case he ends washed up in London again. As he’s wont to do.

Exactly what I was thinking, I’m sure someone could stitch up most of the movie from stills to videos if marketing is still in motion till the time of it’s release.

I saw a recent headline that Safin will be killed off in the grisliest death in 007 history.
Going with that idea, I previously guessed he could be covered in chemicals or something to that effect, melting his skin away to the bone.
