My bad, I couldn’t remember if it was cloning or plastic surgery.
So- for establishing shots on the patio and perhaps bullets ripping into the structure from the outside? Interesting how the outside is dressed to blend in with the existing structure.
Just beat me to it!
Interesting that they refer to 32 different sets/locations in and around southern Italy. It certainly seems more extensive than simply the PTS.
I love how we genuinely have no idea of the structure this time out. Very interesting stuff.
Isn’t it great? I’d love it if they could keep up the secrecy until release. But probably difficult with trailers and whatnot.
Agreed! It certainly beats, “I’m not Blofeld, I’m not Blofeld, I’m not Blofeld… the man inside your head is Ernst Stavro Blofeld”… the world gasps in shock at this unforseeable reveal!!!
In his defense, his character was Franz Oberhauser on his birth certificate so he was technically telling the truth.
Though I do wonder how well Blofeld is known outside of Bond fandom, given the character hadn’t had a named appearance since 1983, and hadn’t been the main antagonist since 1971.
The reveal being that the producers actually thought the Blofeld reveal would be a surprise.
It will telling when we see a clapperboard pic to see where this all fits in…
Haha exactly! If you’re going to bring Blofeld back, celebrate it rather than cheap slight of hand. That said, big brownie points for giving us the nehru suit, the scar and the cat. (Though lose a point for changing the cat from a Turkish Angora to a Persian… right idea… but wrong pussy!)
At the same time, the offices of the Environment Department have, however, given a favorable opinion on the filming of the film ‘Bond 25’ in the same area of Special Protection, although it is expected that a deflagration will also be carried out in order to simulate an explosion for the scenes film.
I still wish that if they were determined to go that route (which I just realized echoes Austin Powers) that they would’ve revealed Hannes Oberhauser as Franz’s adoptive father (having actually been conceived out of wedlock by a Greek sailor named Stavro) who changed the boy’s name, only revealing the truth after a blowup resulting from Franz’s abuse of young James and breaking his promise to Franz’s mother (the former Fraulein Blofeld) on her deathbed.
Wasn’t there originally a cemetery scene in SP (outside of Sciarra’s funeral)? Perhaps they recycled it.
They were originally supposed to film the scene we are familiar with at the Verano cemetery but were refused permission because it was a holy site. They moved it to a museum because it wasn’t…
I’m sure I read a leaked script where it was Bond who revealed Blofeld’s real name right at the end after the helicopter crash because he, like Bond, had been adopted by Oberhauser. I would have found this a lot more palatable than the Austin Powers lite that we were served. It would have been a great final “stuff you” from Bond. Oh well!
I remember a version where he revealed during the interrogation scene that Oberhauser was adopted too. In that version, there was no torture scene and they were playing poker with peanuts.
Going back and reading this a little more carefully, I noticed they indicated the cemetery was “American”. I’m afraid my historical knowledge of WW2 does not include Matera. Was there a battle there? I realize the festival in question recognizes those who died in wars, and I’m assuming this American cemetery is from WW2. Anybody have better insight?
There are certainly a number of American cemeteries around Europe related to WWII, with fallen service members. One in Italy has almost 8,000.
Although, looking at the pics, it does not appear to be a military cemetery. Those usually have a mass of the same plain markers, like simple crosses.
