I would be truly surprised if they went with such an unestablished artist.
My slight skepticism for this is that I’m not convinced the Billie Eilish audience is really the James Bond audience (her audience is much younger) and what the value to both brands of bringing them together is - but it’s not really fair to call her unestablished at this point - shes been a major label artist for 4 going on 5 years now and has a huge following
The industry burns through their talents pretty fast these days. Everybody is searching for the next big thing and the scouts are trawling the net for kids to feed them into the market as young and malleable as possible. At that rate four years is already a long time. My generation hasn’t heard of her while she’s probably already old-hat with the newcomer scene. So it goes.

Well that younger audience is the value, it is - if true of course - to help bring them into the film.
At the budget and box office level Bond is performing at now it has to be this wide appeal, four quadrant, young and old, male and female etc property.

I would say, regardless of what I ( as a fogey ) know of her music, she has an edgy quality that my 14 year old responds to. This quality seems to me to fit how NTTD this far is being marketed.

Yes. Cory Fukunaga made a film. Universal would like it to make a hefty profit. MGM need it to make a profit. We just get to enjoy it.
