No Time to Die theme song

I don’t get the hype either. Why her of all the people they could have chosen?

This is actually not a new sentiment, I‘m reasonably confident this has been asked again and again over the years by generations of fans.

I’ve listened to Billie Eilish’s now Grammy Award-winning album and it’s so far, total and utter garbage. Aside from Bad Guy the rest of the tracks are dreary as hell.

I really hope NTTD is more up beat and less ‘mumble-pop’…though I think I will be disappointed.

Dreary doesn’t mean garbage, just not for you.

Yep yep I get it, I don’t like it but it doesn’t mean everyone else agrees with me. I’m just surprised it swept the grammys. Some albums you listen to and think, yeah, got it, that’s very good. But this…

It’s the music of our kids; maybes grandkids even.

Indeed, but I’m no boomer here, I’m a mere 32 years old and still think I know what’s what! Clearly not…

That means that you’re still twice the age of the target audience (better off than me with more than three times). :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Well fellas, I am utterly knackered by comparison to the majority of sooper posters here, and I love her music.

This will mark the first time I have experienced ‘positive anticipation’ at what she/they will produce for a theme song based on a new name being introduced to me and having a listen to what has gone on in each respective pasts.

Don’t quite get what you mean here.

Personally can go either way on her music. Didn’t care for Bad Guy, but quite like Everything I Wanted just to use her last two singles as examples, but I’m in my 20’s. Don’t know if that is agreement or disagreement with the discussion.

I’m 30 and pretty aware of her and her music - not entirely my thing but not terrible either, pretty decent on the whole and seemingly a bit less vapid than many other “pop starlets” (though i wouldn’t really lump her in with Ariana Grande etc…)

I will say, a lot of my much cooler than me friends in touring bands etc… regularly mention how cool they think she is - so she seems to have a lot of cred with “serious musicians” as well from what ive seen.

I for one think we’re damn lucky we didn’t end up with Ed Sheeran or a One Directioner (though Harry Styles might be able to pull one off down the line)

Knackered, equating to aged, infirm, blind, deaf and indeed near death.

Much of the assessment has included mention of only the youth being able to appreciate. While I am none of the above, I am 53. And I love the music.

Ah, okay. On the plus, you get to watch a Bond film with a song by a musician you like, co-written with both her normal writing partner and the films composer!

Yup - hopes are indeed high on all those accounts.

You’re definitely allowed and welcome to like - even love - her music regardless of your age; it’s just not the norm in all likelihood for our generation to do so. Back in QUANTUM OF SOLACE‘s day there used to be fans of Keys and fans of White - and a slightly smaller number who were outspoken fans of both.

All of this leads me to the idea of a thread I don’t actually want to post: Which artist you don’t really care for still delivered a Bond song you loved?

Several come to my mind:

  • Matt Munro
  • Tom Jones
  • Rita Coolidge
  • Lani Hall
  • Garbage
  • Adele

My issue with that is, especially in Craig’s run, my view of the artist is exactly what I thought of the song. Also, for the vast majority pre-Brosnan, their song for Bond is all I know - Tom Jones, Duran Duran and A-Ha would be the only others where I could name a song off the top of my head.

I think Tom Jones is fantastic and I have a couple of Best off Lp’s and cd’s of him. And I like Munro and Adele (but I would not buy records of them, although somewhere I have a very cheap cd of Munro, but I only liked his movie songs).

This! This! This!
