No Time to Die theme song

I don’t want to jinx it, but I think you’re correct. It’d be a big time Bond move.

a Kobe Bryant tribute performed by hwe would be a fair shout.

Anyway, seems like we are very very - couple of weeks - close to hearing the damn thing

That’s a copy paste of the Variety article on the announcement, where they did say that it would be In Memoriam but then removed it (probably as they didn’t announce/comment which segment she’ll perform for)

Lol, great point!

Though could we discern from such a possibility that the track’s tone is melancholy? Rather like No Good About Goodbye. Such a track may indeed be very apt for a memorial.

And what if in the movie the track /PTS cut to, or from the Matera graveyard scene, therefore already tailored for a memorial theme?

I’ll add, though, that the memorial segment seems an odd way to premiere the bond theme, since the focus will be on the pictures, rather than Billie. Surely they’d want all eyes on billy and the song as the focus. Perhaps it was all Eon was offered and decided for the publicity Alone it was better to accept.

A possible way for it not to seem like an obvious EON/Bond promo is if it’s part of a ‘2020 at the movies’ segment. The Oscars have always done montages of stuff that has come in the previous year…and they could do the same for the year to come.

I think if they premiere the theme in a way that avoids it looking like a Bond promo they’re mad. Premiering the song is surely a huge event for Eon and they’d want to make it as much about Bond as possible. Hiding it as an ‘also running’ would p*ss it away.

Maybe the memorial is the best Eon could negotiate with the Oscars, but if that’s the case they’ll still want as much fanfare as possible, unless they’ve lost their marbles (or if the songs is a bit pants)

Agreed. She’s not premiering the Bond theme at the Oscars for the reasons mentioned above (would distract from the memorial recognition and may be nominated at next year’s Oscars). Let it go.

The Oscars MIGHT be desperate enough to turn their show into a promo event if theyre worried about ratings… I wouldn’t be shocked if they were happy to get Billie Eilish on the show anyway they could - be that In Memoriam or otherwise - but yes, its most likely not a premiere of the new Bond song

I would be disappointed if an in memoriam segment was used as a cheap advert for NTTD: Bond has more class than that.

Agreed. The idea that they would premiere the song during an in memoriam segment is ludicrous.

I cannot tell one way or the other. There are very good reasons to use THE high profile event of the year for promotion - and just as good reasons against. Personally I’d say Eilish is only doing one medley in the memoriam segment, largely because she’s right now very popular with the target audience the Oscars are missing lately. If it went any further I’d be surprised.

Nobody is claiming she would do the NTTD song during the “In Memoriam” segment. AceRoberts made a quip about it but that was just to make light of the title…

I think the question of taste depends upon the nature of the song. If it’s a moving eulogy of sorts then it may well be deemed as very fitting.

Personally I think it’s a bad idea, but this is Hollywood we’re talking about.

Debuting the NTTD song during the “in Memoriam” segment strikes me as being in bad taste. The focus should be on those who passed, not the debut of a new song.

If, on the other hand, she sang a different Bond song, but one that struck the right notes for the occasion, like say “We Have All the Time in the World”, that would be appropriate.

Then it also reminds people that she’ll be singing the new Bond title song.

yeah, i dont think theres any world where No Time To Die is the In Memoriam song.

To be fair, I had the same thought just before I scrolled down to see your comment.

I don’t ever claim to be original in these quips.

Agreed. Would be absolutely classless if they did that. I would hope MGM/EON/Universal would have more class than to allow that.
