No Time to Die theme song

The announcement does refer to it as “title song” which would suggest it shares the name of the film.

So, Finneas states in the interview with Fallon that the song will come out “soon-Really soon.” My definition of “soon” is not sometime in March, it’s more like “imminent” - correct?

Is there a particular day of the week that singles usually drop the way there is for films and trailers?

That’s a sore spot for me. In the states albums - singles used to pop on a Tuesday. Loved to get a film’s score three days in advance of the film release. I considered it brilliant marketing, at no additional cost. Now, it releases on Fridays, at least for the film scores. Not a happy camper since.

Depends on what Finneas means with, like, really soon?

It could also suggest that it’s just the song that plays during the… titles…

Also true. It is a problem when both contexts have been used. Does anyone recall when other song titles were announced?

The Skyfall and Spectre songs were released on Fridays, about a month before release date, with snippets of the song being teased in the days leading up to it.

I honestly wouldn’t be looking for it until March…

Me neither. Any more Than a month and the public at large would’ve surely forgotten it in these fast news, fast culture times.

Since Billie Eilish is performing at Oscars (not the NTTD title song), what do you think, from a marketing point of view, does it matter if the song is released before or after the ceremony?

After. The Oscars will bring Ellish to a wider, more mainstream audience - and then the Bond song can help her and the film.

Thanks. Let’s hope she gives a great performance on Sunday.

Skyfall and Spectre both launched their songs a month before, so I would expect either the 6th or the 13th March and maybe an SNL performance or similar

I doubt we will see her again this SNL season but I would welcome it.

By the by, we have a poll on Eilish singing the title song here.

The vote thingy is on the new forum architecture not as nicely embedded into the opening post, that’s why it’s in the middle of the thread. We’ll do a poll-only thread when the song hits the great wide world.

Eilish hints at the end it’s a ballad…

For some reason, the Oscar orchestra played the “Live and Let Die” theme song while James Corden and Rebel Wilson walked onstage dressed as cats to announce the Best Visual Effects award. Weird.

Billie Eilish performs Yesterday during In Memorium with her brother at the piano.

Beautiful cover of Yesterday at the Oscars tonight. She has a hell of a voice. We’re in for a treat.

they do seem to use it a bit in the Oscars mix over the years, ive heard Goldfinger before also - I think they count them as being among the classic cinema songbook
