Had we seen this? Apologies if it’s repetition. 100 is a good knock, and she seemed like a nice person.

Don’t think so, no. There’s a fabulous interview with her here, lots of interesting history how she came to film and how ‘continuity’ is actually achieved with various cameras, scenes, slates and so on.
Here’s to one of the finest bits of soundtracks ever made. Shame he never got to do a Bond soundtrack (he would have outperformed anyone else).
And while we’re at it…
Thanks for the great legacy.

Perfect choice.
What sad news. His Mission: Impossible Theme might be the second best theme song of all time–trailing only the James Bond Theme, of course. It certainly is the second greatest spy theme song anyway.
I agree with Stromberg’s remark that it was a shame he never did a Bond film. He, Henry Mancini, and John Williams are the three composers I most wish could have done a 007 film who never did.
R.I.P. Mr. Schifrin. You will be missed.
I always thought this theme seemed inspired by Ennio Morricone.
Besides his M.I. theme and The Plot theme from M.I. I love his scores for Bullit, Dirty Harry, Magnum Force and Enter the Dragon, I have them all on cd and listen to them regularly.
When I am driving a car I often tend to hum his score at the beginning of the car chase in Bullit, my late wife never understood what I was doing and she hated jazz and that melody has something of that in it.
R.I.P. Lalo Schifrin.
Jim Shooter, who started his comics career by writing DC’s Legion of Superheroes at the age of 14(!) and later went on to guide Marvel comics through a wildly creative period that continues to influence the MCU films today (though not without controversy and some lingering bad feelings), has died at age 73. He doesn’t always spring to mind when I list off my favorite comic creators, but on reflection he may be one of the biggest influences in my becoming, and remaining, a fan of superhero comics.

Oh no
Very sad news…
He should have been Felix Leiter for PB’s Bond. It was hard news to HEAR. Sorry, bad pun. It was planned for him to be in the Jinx Spinoff movie. He will be missed particularly in QT’s movies.
He was a part of some great movies (Star Wars originals, Life of Brian). He will be missed.
I could have gone for that.
I remember being excited about them casting him in Die Another Day. One of the small number of highlights from that film.
RIP
Very sorry to hear this, he shaped a significant part of a tv era with his compositions.
Wow… Unexpected. And very sad.
Very sad.
