Plato’s Socratic paradox, which, ironically, we don’t know if Socrates ever actually said it.
I know this was mentioned above, but when you add Craig’s obvious enthusiasm about the Matera shoot, perhaps they are indeed pasting in a shot or two to the (supposed) existing teaser. Another possibility is foregoing a teaser entirely and releasing a full trailer in November.
This…!
Would make sense to use material that, in the briefness of a teaser, has the most impact. Since Matera also has garnered a certain profile on social media, why not offer audiences a glimpse of ‘the real thing’ ©™ there?
I imagine that the teaser, naturally short and only showing small snippets, thereby not giving away too much too early, indeed is ready. But they want to place it in the right environment. And that is either Thanksgiving movie season or the Christmas rush of high profile releases.
I would not expect at all a full trailer this year at all. The release is April 2020. There might be two more trailers or just one. In any event, one full trailer will come in February at the earliest.
I did hope to see a trailer emphasising a romantic angle between Bond and Madeleine, with a cue similar to Arnold’s ‘Snow Business’. Now I just hope we get to see something…anything…soon.
I noticed that Disney released what could be described as a trailer versus a teaser for their first glimpse of Jungle Cruise - 9 months in advance of the release date. I’m truly wishing EON follows a similar path and gives us more footage than the typical teaser we’ve gotten in the past.
Yes I saw that (it was the thumbnail’s resemblance to Bogart / Hepburn that caught my eye). Trailers seem to be coming along much earlier these days, so I’m thinking we could get something any day now.
I hope that any form of teaser/trailer that could be release this year is short and does not show the story already.
But in this age that might be impossible.
The teasers for Craig’s other 4 didnt, so hopefully not…but I am aware the trailers for several Bond films since 62 have just told you everything so theres quite a spectrum for it to hit.
This is where the trailers & other marketing materials mostly being handled in house by EON as opposed to MGM/Universal helps…
Indeed! I thought SP’s teaser was fantastic. Haunting and emotive it teased a psychological thriller as much as the action tropes.
I’m dying to see trailer footage but I’m simultaneously terrified of seeing too much of NTTD before going into the cinema. Sony’s “throw everything at 'em” approach to marketing has burned me.
I know it’s not Sony this time, but I’m still toying with avoiding any and all marketing…
Wish I had the will power to avoid the trailers, but I’m resigned to walking into the cinema spoiled.
A lot of people got burned last time by the leaks and now consequently avoid any news around NO TIME TO DIE - which of course will be even harder once the promotional campaign kicks in. This time, even the casting could be considered a spoiler by some - while the actual story seems still to be a fairly well-guarded secret. The trailer will no doubt shed a little more light on events, but there seems to be hope Eon will want to steer clear of spilling everything.
While I hope that big twists will not be revealed before, I certainly want to see some snippets of the movie before. It is part of what creates my excitement.
In earlier, more innocent times, catching a trailer (always by surprise before watching another movie) was fantastic.
Of course, because one could only see it in theaters, not on constant repeat by clicking on a home computer, there was no reason to feel it spoilt anything.
These days, I try to recreate this by watching trailers twice at the most, and then avoiding them until watching the whole movie. Yes, I have that much power to restrain myself.
So that teaser trailer - the one some insiders claim to have seen already; the one we assume we know is ready for some time; the one the Express already promised for September 18 or October 4 - is still not here.
What to make of it?
Did those people who claim to have seen it, indeed watch the trailer? One - or several? - version(s) of? Was the reaction not as expected? Is maybe some brand-new material to be included in a 2.0 model? Is there a date we didn’t think of yet that would present itself to reveal it? Is the trailer maybe further away?
Personally, I think there may have been the wish to include recent footage and/or whatever was seen by folks may just not have been the final deal. Maybe it’s also just too early to expect the thing now.
Waiting for end of October/start November since that’s a time we usually expect bond (or thanks giving).
Or, they want to insert the latest spectacular set piece they’ve shot in Italy.
Or, the ‘no script - making it up as they go’ rumours were true and they’re worried about trailing story points that may yet change…
The latter shouldn’t effect a teaser and the former is a stretch, so I’m going for them tweaking with new material.
I would suspect the rumours were just that. Those who have seen any form of trailer are part of the inner circle and therefore sworn to secrecy.
It‘s like the insiders on message boards who claim that they heard from someone that an artist will release a new album or start a tour. Eventually it will come true.
“I heard from insiders that Spider-Man will return to the MCU”
Congrats dude, it’s not like a flip of a coin would tell any punter that…
