Rumour doing the rounds on social media that the NTTD soundtrack release date has been moved to November 30. Apparently someone received a rescheduling email from a retailer.

If so that’s quite expected. End of November might still be optimistic, depending on how things with the variant turn out. But April is out of the question.

Unless vaccination approaches a level which eradicates the virus, winter will still see infection rates rise. Add to that influenza which too many people still do not get vaccinated for and might be due to rise again with less social distancing and containment measures in late 2021, full theatres around the world might neither be a good idea nor a realistic one.

Wow… business is an insane business.
I was at the cinema last night with my wife, watching Unhinged (2020). It was an outdoor cinema and there were about 150 people there.
I suppose these could pop up again - along with drive-in cinemas - this summer here in Europe. We’ve had them back, often improvised on shoestring budgets and makeshift screens, last summer. It’s a way to keep the head above the water but not a big market overall. From what I’ve seen reported mostly younger audiences are attracted because to them it’s exotic. The ‘best agers’ and older folks are apparently not as much into it.
Bit like the art house cinemas which showed ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW for 30 years to die-hard fans - a devoted fanbase but no greater market beyond.
If you add in anti-vaxxers, which in the US happen to crossover with those who deny the pandemic is even real, who knows when this will all actually be over. If we see No Time To Die in 2021, it will VOD. If MGM are holding out for a theatrical release, it’ll at least be 2022 and even that is optimistic.
Inevitable, but moved again. Now October 2021.

This is now 2 years after the original release date, right?
Yeah, so far it’s release date has been announced as Nov '19, Feb '20, Apr '20, Nov '20, Apr '21 and Oct '21.
Bet they really regret missing the Feb 2020 release…

A lot of waiting for two hours and forty five minutes of film, but that’s okay! Hopefully we’ll be a little better off then than we are right now.

I’m actually fairly optimistic October '21 will hold. Yes, covid will still be with us. But many of the major markets (China, USA, UK) will likely be in much better shape then, and I think they do realize that it is not feasible to wait until covid is completely gone (partially because it may never be).
We might be in a better place Covid-wise come October, but it’s going to take some time for the economy to bounce back. All of this talk of a v-shaped recovery is absolute nonsense.
Then, there’s the very real possibility that we won’t be in a better place at all. With mutations springing about all over the globe, we could be in for a much worse year this year than last year.
Is 8 October intended to be a worldwide release date? Just the UK? Just the UK and the US?
I propose we start an Australian NTTD taskforce, lobbying ‘the powers that be’ for exclusive rights Down Under. If all goes to plan, we can possibly secure a meeting with them by April Fools Day 2030.
