Who do you want for Bond 7?

Yeah the main thing I can tell atm is that hes talented and holds his own with Downey, Cumberbatch et al so definitely worth keeping on the radar.

I would actually prefer him over Hemsworth.

yeah many times over imo - Hemsworth is the least Bond person I can imagine (mind you as an Aussie, I’ve seen him on TV since god knows when on Home and Away) - but hes totally a what I call a costume party Bond - someone who is handsome and looks good in a suit but inhabits none of the character whatsoever apart from some practiced caricature. Hollywood spy, he would do a great job but Bond he ain’t

I think the issue is that Bond is meant to be British. Yes, Lazenby was an Aussie and did a serviceable job in his one film, but he wasn’t British. We’ve had two non-British Bonds and there is just something off about them both. Lazenby it’s most that he just wasn’t an actor and Brosnan couldn’t hold an English accent to save his life. Having Hemsworth play Bond would be like having an American playing Bond. It just wouldn’t work. Bond needs to be British. Anyone who plays Bond should be from the UK.

Great point! Look forward to Bond spying on England for his Scottish masters (i think i’d root for him even more).

Did you see him as James Hunt in Rush. A great (British) performance. And also a damn good movie, which is surprising considering it’s the director churning out ever diminishing Dan Brown movies.

i did yeah - it was a good performance but it read more bruce wayne style playboy than James Bond to me. Its like the idea of Bond that teenage boys like thats all fast cars girls one liners and suits but none of the espionage or deeper stuff that sneaks in there. Hemsworth would go back to 2nd half of Die Another Day level imo

That’s harsh

I assumed the new Men In Black was his Bond audition

That could be an alternative low key split from Maddy in the Bond 25 PTS!

Hemsworth Iā€˜d see more in a Travis McGee-like role, provided that was ever produced for the big screen, which is doubtful.

Yet another Thomas Crown remake, this time with Michael B. Jordan!

Theres an ever increasing number of black listed scripts and talented writers everywhere trying to catch a break with original work. But no, let’s crank out the reruns yet again. Hollywood Shmollywood $$$

If anything artistically worthwhile comes out of this MGM library business plan cash cow exercise I’ll eat my begging cap. It’s incredibly depressing.

I did groan as I read that.

Not wishing to be pedantic but … The only "British " actors to play Bond for EON are Craig and Moore, Connery Scottish, Dalton Welsh the other two you have mentioned. Connerys very Scottish accent and humour are what arguably brought Fleming’s rather stiff British character to life on screen. Bond doesn’t have to be British , but they must have confidence and charisma, which Hemsworth has in spades. In saying that I think our next 007 will be relatively unknown and probably quite funny.

Pedantry - Dalton counts as British

England - Craig and Moore
Britain (England and Wales) - Craig, Moore, Dalton
Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales) - Craig, Moore, Connery, Dalton
UK (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland) - Craig, Moore, Connery, Dalton
Commonwealth - Craig, Moore, Connery, Dalton, Lazenby

Making Irish born (he didn’t get American citizenship until AFTER being Bond) Brosnan the freak of the bunch.

All true but he’d support Wales in the Rugby

Brosnans’ singing in Mamma Mia confirms definite freakery.

I actually did not consider his singing to be less agreeable than the pipes of Colin Firth or Stellan Skarsgaard.

It just seems to be one of those targets people love to shoot at.

Oh none of that trios singing can be actually called singing.

Well, trained singers are rarely found in the charts either. Doesn’t mean their voices don’t work for the particular songs.

Yes, I understand that calling a Scotsman British is blasphemy. However, Connery being Scottish fits Bond’s backstory (though I believe that was added AFTER Connery was cast as Bond). Dalton being Welsh makes him British. Craig and Moore are the only ā€œEnglishā€ actors. I know that at least 2 Americans were offered the role of Bond, Burt Reynolds who declined and James Brolin who as actually cast until Never Say Never Again was announced and EON wanted Moore back (was Adam West also offered the role, I can’t remember). Having said that (and being American) I wouldn’t want to see an American as Bond. He’s British, he should be played by a Brit, at least IMO.
