Who do you want for Bond 7?

After Fleming saw Connery’s performance I believe.

They arn’t…they’re

England

Britain (England and Wales)

Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales)

UK (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland)

Say that to them and see what happens. My Scottish friends get super angry at me if I call them British.

Can we wait for Bond 6 saying farewell before getting angry at anyone?

From what I’ve gathered learning from my UK friends, English, Scottish, Welsh, and Northern Irish (I’m American btw, so I apologize if any of this is incorrect), technically yes all of Britain is British, which includes England, Scotland, and Wales. However, the idea of being British is like a background almost. Scottish people heavily identify with being Scottish. Being British is seen as being English, which most Scots don’t like. Welsh are considered to be British as Wales is more closely associated with England. The relationship between England and Scotland isn’t necessarily on the best of terms, especially post-Scottish referendum and post-Brexit, where Scotland is being dragged kicking and screaming out of the EU, mostly by England and Wales. So, to summarize, the Scottish want to be Scottish. They do not want to be British which is seen as being English, which the Scottish do not want to be and that’s why you don’t call a Scottish person British. Or have I got my facts crossed?

You shouldn’t have tried to steal my money…

The British label comes from before the union of Scotland with England and Wales, its a Roman label for the settlers of this area;

Maybe he should do the Bond 25 theme. That’d be a first (and a last)

Nah, it’s just invasion, occupation and colonialism :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

What a headline that would be: BROSNAN BACK FOR BOND 25! This time it´s musical.

Do not say that in Northern Ireland. Ever.

Fair enough, my bad. Like I said, I’m American so deepest apologies for getting some of these things wrong. I have friends from Northern Ireland who fall on both sides of the debate and have heard it both ways.

Nothing to do with Boyle’s opinion, I’m just getting sick of hearing him talk about Bond. It’s like, he just can’t let people forget that he was the original director of this movie. Let it go man, they’re just not that into you.

To be fair he’s probably getting asked about it relentlessly.

Absolutely. Things like this always work both ways: it’s giving the Boyle story a bit of a kick that will interest readers not normally eager to learn about his film - or his work in general. And it’s adding a hashtag to Boyle’s resumé that’s going to be there for the rest of his career.

And we have another example of

‘“The thing about it is, if you say anything about Bond it becomes the headline, right?” he says, not inaccurately.‘

Mark especially this:

‘“There’s two things I’ll say about that. Firstly, there’s a whole other industry which is completely separate from the film side of things, and that’s the bookies. The second thing I’d say is that I think it should be a woman, which rules me out.”’

The third thing… he’s pretty good at irony.

I like his point about the bookies; the notion that perhaps all the rumours we hear are worthless because they’re generated by that industry. That includes the rumour about himself. They sneak word out about whomever, without any sources, it hits the headlines and the bookies coffers fill. It’s like printing their own money. It’s the kind of scheme I can see the Peaky Blinders running.

And the female bond reply strikes me as punctuation, rather than genuine opinion, drawing this line of enquires to irrevocable closure. I like a person that doesn’t suffer fools (even when I’m the target, which isn’t uncommon).
