Sounds ever so slightly bitter. Enjoyed the schadenfreude of perpetuating a story I’m sure BB would prefer went away.
But after the way he was unceremoniously dropped due to appalling directorial/producer choices made on DAD who can blame him.

That’s how it struck me as well. I’m not Brosnan’s biggest fan, though I give him credit for revitalizing the franchise with his attempt at an amalgam of Connery and Moore. He was not served well by the writers and producers and did better than should probably be expected in films that often seemed to be struggling for proper footing, as you noted, most vividly in DAD.
Isn’t that an older Brosnan quote?
In any event, I guess EON can lay back easily. Brosnan hammering on about a woman should be Bond is so 2018… Makes him look bad. He should rather behave like Sir Roger did and promote Bond as something he was grateful being part of.
Yeah it’s from last year I think
The problem is that he’s in a no-win situation. If he says no, Bond is a man’s role, then he’s labeled a sexist, misogynist, dinosaur who can’t get with the times by the oh so politically correct media. So to look good to them and the me too crowd he says sure, why not be played a woman even though he knows it will never happen and shouldn’t happen and may upset many Bond fans.
I just find it all ridiculous. If people want a female James Bond or a black James Bond or a gay James Bond or what have you then they should create something original themselves along those lines instead of hijacking an established and successful property. It’s the same thing as saying it’s about time we get a white guy to play Shaft or going to Chik-fil-A and saying they need to switch to an all beef menu or making Capt. James T. Kirk be played by a woman, all of which are equally ridiculous…
As the character is now, James Bond could be black or /bisexual/gay (in so far as having a sex scene with a man) and it would still work with the character without inherently changing anything about the series - I’m not 100% that is true with a female Bond yet (as part of the me too crowd)
I’m afraid I strongly disagree. Bond was, is, and always has been a strong, heterosexual, ladies man. As the phrase goes women want to be with him and men want to be him. Making him gay/bisexual totally changes the character. Being black not as much, but Bond IS a white guy. Just as Shaft IS a black guy. Changing things up for diversity’s sake is not a good or right way to go. Sure, some people would like it, maybe even some fans, but you would alienate and piss off even more. That is not good business.
Again, if you want diversity, create your own diverse character. There’s no law against it. If it’s good, it will stand a good chance of making it on its own merits. You don’t have to piggyback on someone else’s efforts. Otherwise, you’re just taking a shortcut that leads to diminishing returns for all involved. That goes for any well-established character not just James Bond.
The merits of debating an old rumor, many times debunked, even by EON?
I know, I just hate the PC woke crap. I’m tired of hearing it all the time regardless of whether it involves Bond or not–even if it’s not going to happen with him–and I just gave in to the frustration. Sorry.
Sure, though your reasoning is a little overblown (I understand even the thought of it must be very distressing) - but having him have sex with a man (one assumes for mission purposes) doesn’t actually change very much given nowhere did Fleming or anyone write that he wasn’t bisexual or hadn’t ever had sex with a man) - nor does it preclude him from continuing to romance and keep the “british end up” with younger, beautiful women, nor does making Bond black apart change one iota from maybe a dual nationality of one of his parents. What it does change is how CERTAIN fans view the character.
Anyway, you’re right that noones actually going to change anything about James Bond (because it has an uhh… aging, conservative fanbase and no studio would ever do that)- but my point is really that the changes people suggest (that get you so worked up) would actually barely touch what is actually the character of James Bond. A lot of the reason people keep talking about it is because the fan base get so ridiculously uncomfortable at the mere mention of it. But I understand that Bond is basically Boomer Fantasy for rich (or aspirational) white straight men much as I love it. - P.S: PC Woke Crap is actually just not treating people like shit ie: common decency
Small aside - when you use politically correct - do you genuinely think acts of kindness towards those who have been oppressed is only done when the one being “pc” has something to gain?
Also, and I can’t believe I have to say this…again… but when you say you don’t like MeToo, that is saying you are for rape. I’m sure that’s not what you meant, but that’s what that means.
Perhaps he could have guided them to his DAD costar Rosamund Pike’s comments on the subject:
“To have such a character in a completely independent series, why should a woman get sort of sloppy seconds? Why should she have once been a man and now it has to be played by a woman? Why not make a kick-ass female agent in her own right?”
You both aren’t going to agree with each other on this, it’s clear to anyone over here that both of you are on the opposite end of the political spectrum.
my popcorns getting ready
I mean the fact that speaking up about rape and sexual harassment is political is crazy… and yes, plenty of opportunity for great women spy stories - the issue is will a great woman spy or gay spy movie ever be made when they could just make more James Bond and Mission Impossible movies… brand is everything and creating a new IP is basically a non starter unless you’re 1,000,000 to 1 - especially something that will be budgeted and marketed on the scale of Bond or M:I
You mean a guy who is on tape gloating about sexually assaulting someone, have well over a dozen claims against for rape and sexual assault and was cheating on his third wife a week after she gave birth to his kid might have a motive for trying to blur lines on this topic?
Haha well its not just him but its disingenuous whether it comes from him, Harvey Weinstein or some schmuck on TV who thought it would be a great idea to slap a reporters ass as he ran past in a marathon
Facts are not political.
And pouring oil into fire is not the Modus operandi here.
I don’t want to speak for Double-Oh Agent, but I assume he means the spin that’s applied by some to such causes in order to seek media attention to merely promote themselves via metoo (or whichever cause it happens to be). When it comes to ‘Wokeness’ I think plenty are guilty of this and it’s damned annoying - not to mention confusing the debate for those with a genuine complaint. dangerous territory is when one can’t debate, or question aspects of such things without being asked if they’re promoting rape. Slightly provocative to ask if he thinks tape is ok

What he said ^
Pouring oil on the fire may not be the modus operandi over here as you said but like most debates which are political, this would turn into an endless spiral and its a James Bond forum for the love of God, I say its best to skip these sort of topics all together
I too would hope that’s what he means, but I feel the actual usage should be known, and reiterated every time it’s used wrong. you don’t want someone saying “the MeToo movement is all wrong, I can’t do anything anymore!” to actual people Because that’s saying you’re annoyed at being unable to rape people, so are confessing to a crime with a hefty prison sentence. As linguistic errors go, it’s a very unfortunate one.
Proper usage of language is important:
“ Attention: Toilet only for disabled elderly pregnant children. Thank you!"
